Hopefully, we can slowly use this model to check all of our ethnic baggage at the door to create an Orthodox Church of America (as compared to the Orthodox Church in America). Also, I still think the Old Tridentine Mass when sung in Gregorian Chant is a very beautiful thing.
As for the Protestants, it has been said time and again, but they do know their scripture very well.

Wouldn't it be the American Orthodox Church ? As for the Protestants, it has been said time and again, but they do know their scripture very well.
That is the one thing I wish I had picked up (and retained) from my few years as a Protestant. I know the truths of Scripture, but I still have to search and C&P for all but a few very basic and salient verses.

Actually I think you are right, complete with our own Patriarch of Washington. Washington, being the 4th Rome would take the role of Eccumenical Patriarch, being that Constantinople doesn't seem to want to use that role to promote Orthodoxy. Ok, just kidding there! I hope to live to the day when we can see the establishment of one single American Orthodox Jurisdiction on this continent, even if I am a reallllly old man when it does.

Perhaps the MP/ROCOR fence mending is the spark that will light the charcoal

Yes, and the Antiochians are on their way too. But then there comes the REAL obstacle, getting the EP to recognize the OCA as being autonomous and letting the Greek parishes in this country unite with the Russians and Antiochians. I think the Ukranians, Carpatho-Russians, Serbs, etc. would fall into line if we could get the 3 major Orthodox Churches to agree on the issue.
Glad you didn't take my Washington being the 4th Rome comment out of context!

Maybe if we were the fourth Rome, all this silly endtimes talk of the EU factoring in the endtimes would disappear like incense wafting up to the Pantocrator.

On a lighter note, I would have to put Palestrina, Caravaggio and Trappist Ales on my list of cool stuff. I also like watching EWTN when I get the time, especially reruns of Archbishop Sheen's show. |

I have to agree, the Catholic monks knew how to make some really, really good beer and wine. I still love Archbishop Fulton Sheen. There is so much we can learn from him. It still amazes me that he actually had a TV show in prime time!
