His Servants need to be very cautious on what people refer to as "counselling" within the Corpus Christi (the Body of Christ), because their is secular counselling, and their is Christian counselling, which are two different means and methods.
Christian counselling brings a person back in touch with spiritual reality of His Word and HIM through the leading and guidng of the Holy Spirit and of the "spiritual earthly and heavenly things" of the supernatural and natural realms, which are NOT taught through "the philosophy of the world that is according to the traditions of men and not according to our Lord Jesus Christ." (Col. 2:8)
Secular counselling bring a person back in touch with SELF, the unbelievers doctrine.
I disagree with you..NO everyone is not saved and everyone does not want to live for the Lord..that is a reality...but they need help..they need assistance..be it geting over a love one's death, or fighting an eating disorder etc....but what they dont deserve help because they arent saved...?? Counseling is of God and God's prescence can come into any home or office to reach a person with or without His word...
Everyone needs help..everyone is not open to receiving help with God as an aide..but any time of counseling or help that helps another person live another day because of suicide or destruction prevention is another day that person has that will possibly cause them to cross paths with the Lord. think about it. God bless
P.S. And depending on where you get your degree and or masters from....you are always taught how to help someone as Christ would do according to His word through the ministry of counseling. God bless

Hi Forealzchola,
Elijah 2's post appears to be biased against what he labels as "secular counselors."
I can give you balanced answers as I'm a Christian (Pastoral) and Secular Professional Counselor. Please feel free to pm me with your chat (messenger) address and we can talk as long as you like. Include in your pm how you will show up on the chat screen. I have another family member who is a doctoral candidate who counsels both from secular and Christian perspectives so I have a good base to draw from.
God bless you.

F, I wasn't knocking secular counselling, but I assumed that you were doing the counselling to counsel Christians. And I was explaining the differences between the two. The spiritual element is overlooked, where it's very necessary in Christian counselling.
Sorry if I was not on the frequency.
I commend you for doing what you where doing, but as I was saying I was referring to Christian counselling, not secular counselling.
By the way, have you read any Christian Counselling books written by Derek Prince, Francis MacNutt, Neil Anderson, etc?

Hi C, now this has nothing to do with being biased to secular counselling, because phsychtherapy doesn't cover the spiritual aspect, or the supernatural being called "unclean spirits".
No doubt we use secular counselling techniques to try to unwrap the layers of a person's heart, to heal the broken-soul. But as a Christian, many such problems are of a supernatural nature through sin, and secular counselling doesn't even consider sin whatsoever, but SELF, the thing that our Lord Jesus Christ fights against.
