Anyone who knows anything about physics knows that this machine is safe.
The people saying it's dangerous are the same people saying RHIC and Tevatron were going to blow up the world (but obviously 10 years later, they haven't, because we're still here). RHIC and Tevatron are smaller versions the project mentioned above.
I've spoken with two of the people mentioned in the article and even they admit the risk is extremely small.
