I have a copy of this painting, and the most stunning one to me is one that did not fit in the scan.
Behind the Bride, to the left of her, Yeshua is seen in profile, from the side. His whole body is seen as He is upon the cross. He is lying on the rock that is behind the bride.
One leg bent at the knee, the other one lying straight down. You can see His face, His beard.
That is the image I cherish the most in this painting.
Amy, do you think maybe you could scan it again, and include the other end of the painting the next time? I would love for everyone to see the part I am talking about.
Actually, you can see His legs....His left knee bent up, is right beside the Bride's head.(part of it is enclosed in the red circle) And you can also see above that, his waist wearing the loin cloth. His right leg is stretched out straight. His feet cannot be seen.
I wrote this earlier tonight at another forum....the topic really fits here, so I am going to post it here and see what you all think.
Starts here:
You know how God does not live in what we know as time? Since He is always present everywhere...and sees all times at the same time however He chooses....
then in a sense Jesus is still experiencing His Passion. Do you know what I mean?
I guess this is more of a thought crystallizing, instead of a question.
Do you suppose then, that our wanting to be with Him in His suffering, (through worship, meditating on His Passion)trying to comfort Him....if He lives in all of time, all the time...we could actually be of true comfort to Him.
I am sorry. Does this make any sense?
There were moments today that I would feel like I couldn't stand knowing that in these hours leading up to 3 o'clock, He was suffering. He would have been suffering, on the day that it happened.
I thought maybe it was wrong of me to feel like it was happening TODAY. But maybe that is ok.
You guys know what I mean, right?
So what do you guys think about this?
Of course I do not want for Him to still be suffering. But to think that maybe we can actually truly comfort Him...
I don't know. it is too hard to put into words.
I agree wuth you Amy Lisa and with shulamite. There is no time in God. We can be comforting Jesus in any part of His life. I want to address this more but its very late. I will write about this later and I'll post the full version of the painting sometime Saturday night.
