And since we are all priests in the new covenant, there's no reason an entire congregation should confess everything to one single person, and no reason he shouldn't confess everything to the congregation.

This clearly is confession or 'pennance' in the Catholic faith. Clearly it is what Jesus wanted after he left this earth.
What does this mean to you? I believe Jesus would have me share an experience, which involves confessing of sins. I am neither Protestant nor Catholic, but was a Catholic for the first forty of my seventy-three years. After Jesus called me into his ministry and had giving me his Holy Spirit, and being taught by him for a year or so, he told me to go be cleansed. Knowing he meant to go confess my sins. I was no longer in the Catholic Church, but knew a Catholic priest and he came to my house, and I confessed my sins to him. The next morning Jesus said to me: Now you are clean and I can use you. I understood though; that I would never need to be cleansed again. I am not sharing any teaching about confessing of one’s sins. Jesus hasn’t given me any understanding or teaching about what is right or wrong about going to confession. Jesus has never taught me if all Christian Churches have the authority to forgive sins or not. My personal opinion is that all Christians Churches would have been given authority to forgive or retain sins. |

Ehh which is it, priests or apostles? If Jesus was only talking to the apostles, than that is who He was only talking to alone, but He was talking of the power of the Holy Spirit in which all believers receive. Where does it say catholic priests alone?! Where is the context?? You are putting it as a “trust me” argument, but I trust only scripture. Sola Scriptura! Sola Fide! Sola Gratia! Solus Christus! Soli Deo Gloria!!

Only Jesus didn't tell St. Peter "On this rock, you will write a bible". Church came BEFORE the bible. BEFORE the New Testament.
Sola Scripture is not biblical. Your telling me that before the bible was even printed, or even thought of, everyone went to hell because they heard it by ORAL TRADITION. Where does it say in the bible that Jesus said go by the bible alone? |

He/she obviously doesn't want to base his position on Bible, but tradition, of which can end up being anything and going no where. He can confess all he wants to his priest. Me, I confess to the Messiah/God. fishon Jesus did say, "Knock the dust off your feet...." |
