Creation & EvolutionForum for the discussion of this important topic. This forum is open to non-believers. There is a Christians-only forum in the Christians-only section too.
Prof Reiss says the rise of creationism is partly down to the large increase in Muslim pupils in UK schools. He said: "The number of Muslim students has grown considerably in the last 10 to 20 years and a higher proportion of Muslim families do not accept evolutionary theory compared with Christian families.
That's one reason why it's more of an issue in schools."

Ah good, finally we get to have some fun over here too.

But it is also true that, though sound argument and a reasonable appreciation of the available evidence may happen sometimes to lead to false conclusions, no man who is indifferent to argument and evidence can claim to be concerned for truth...It is also true that to tolerate contradiction is similarly to be indifferent to truth. For the person who, whether directly or by implication, knowingly both asserts and denies one and the same proposition, shows by that behaviour that he does not care whether he asserts what is false, and not true, or whether he denies what is true, and not false.

Doesn't this kind of defeat the idea that Creationism should be taught because it doesn't disagree with the Bible?
Good angle. I like it.
Ps. I notice no creationists have chimed in yet. We're waiting for your thoughts.

A very telling habit. You'd think that two groups, using the same evidence and arguments to the same conclusion but with a different motive would lead them to question their beliefs. After all, if it were true, it wouldn't lead equally well in two directions would it? Their silence is just another demonstration of their deliberate ignorance.

Most of the time creationists can't even agree with each other on any specifics beyond "Goddidit," so how can you expect them to agree with people who have a totally different creation myth?

I just spat my coffee out laughing at your post...
But it's - oh so true. I was hoping that creationism wouldn't hit the UK in any form. I like it's secular nature - I want it to stay that way.
Although it's not really that secular.........

I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it.
