Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the annual series of battles is here, and this year it's a lot more organized and thought-out (wow, I know :D)!

THE SERAPH'S REACH
Scheduled to begin on November 3rd, 2007, at five (5) P.M. Eastern Standard Time, the Tournament of Champions (called the Table of Contents by some :P) is back and ready to give it another go for YEAR II!
Simply put, the Tournament of Champions is a block-based tournament to see who of all of it's contestants is the most clever roleplayer (not necessarily the "best"). It is a series of story-filled arena battles that take place in an assortment of areas, from skeleton-inhabited castles to deserted wastelands.
The contest is not all about winning, however, as awards will be given out for differing skills.
Last year, we had a lot of problems with entrants not showing up for their assigned battles, so along with last year's rules, we have a few additional rules to aid in avoiding this problem.
The tournament will be taking place in the New Worlds RPG area.
Rules:
No superpowered or godmod characters! Please no overpowered characters, as this is a tournament to determine skill. Acceptable characters are swordfighters, mages, etc. Characters will be reviewed and approved by myself along with a Character Judgment Panel.
No harrassment! I want to keep this tournament as friendly as possible, so please, no serious harassment or insults. Clean language ONLY! Jokes are allowed, but nothing more.
No cheating! If you're hit, admit you're hit. If you don't, I or one of the judges will have to intervene.
Two strikes, you die! If you are convicted of two charges of harassment or cheating (by me or a Character Judge) your character will be instantly defeated by Charles the Smithing Meteorite and lose that particular battle you are currently in.
The way this tournament works is in "blocks". Blocks are groups of four contestants. There is Block A, Block B, etc. Each contestant in a block must fight the three others once each and then the one with the most wins after all the battles are conducted moves on. In the event of a tie, another battle will be held, and in the event of a tie in that particular battle, I will choose a winner based on skill level, who was winning, etc.
There will be four blocks, A, B, C, & D. Each block will consist of 4-6 contestants. If all blocks are filled and two or more contestants join after the point of block completion, more blocks will be created to support the new contestants as needed. If all blocks fail to be filled by the date of the tournament, whatever blocks that are needed will remain, and unnecessary blocks will be removed, or the necessary adjustments to the roster will be made.
Eventually the two best contestants will go head-to-head for the title of Champion Arena Battler until I hold this tournament again next year, in the Tournament of Champions Year III.

The Character Judgment Panel (also know as the Character Analysis Team) is now filled and no more judges will be added. The judges' overall jobs are as follows:
1) To judge if characters are within Tournament regulations
2) When called on, to judge whether or not a character should be disqualified (such as in the case of cheating)
As it was last year, this year will also follow a storyline.
If you cannot get access to the Tournament at the time of its beginning, that is OK. This is simply the time when I will post all the battles to the RPG section.
The battles will be taking place in the New Worlds section of the RPG forum, and each battle will last two to three days. If a winner is not decided by this time, a Sudden Death will occur. The details of the Sudden Death will not be revealed until November 2nd. If the Sudden Death fails to decide a winner, the Character Judgment panel will decide instead (again, this is more than just how good your character is).
The criteria that the Judgment panel will be using to award winners will not be revealed until the end of the Tournament. At that time, awards for the best of each of these categories will be announced, and awards given accordingly.
The end of the Tournament will also herald the announcement of the Champion Arena Battler. Now, for the part that everybody will love to hear...

At this time I would like also like to announce that while I am playing in the Tournament, I, myself, am not in the running for this prize. In the event that I were to win the Tournament, the second runner up would be given the award.
No entries or character changes will be accepted any later than November 2nd, 11:59 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. No exceptions.
Contestants/judges who fail to respond within two days (unless otherwise noted) will be removed from the tournament. If you need more time, PLEASE PM me. I will not be held responsible for your character being disqualified from a battle if you do not tell me that you need more time.
