I have been here before, but it has been quite a long time. I stopped posting because we had a death in the family, and I had back surgery, plus a job change recently.
I am new to being a SDA. I was watching TV and found John Carter and then Doug Batchelor on 3ABN. I knew what they were teaching was the truth. I remember checking everything with the Bible. I couldn't understand why I never heard this material in the Lutheran Church in which I was raised. I read several Ellen White books, watched more SDA preachers, and I couldn't believe how the Bible actually came alive for me. Why hadn't I heard this stuff before?
Anyway, after about a year I joined a local SDA Church and was baptized in the Missouri River along with my daughter. To me it is very exciting to be a part of this church. I am still learning so much all the time.
We have two children, we live on a farm in central SD.
I work part time as a nurse; and help on the farm some. It's a great place to raise children. It's even better knowing that I am teaching them truth.
Welcome back midnightcry! Great to hear that God is becoming such a big part of your life right now
I figured I'd introduce myself here too, even though I kinda did in the TSDA subforum.
My name is Pete, and I live in Pennsylvania. I go to the Robbinsville SDA Church in New Jersey. I'm an assistant youth leader over at the church and I also run the sound system during the church as well(not as much as in the past though hehe).
My path to the Lord has been an interesting one. My parents became Adventists in '82. Besides having my sister, my parents wanted another child. But my mom's health wasn't very good. she had thyroid problems, had several operations on it, and through some complications the doctors told her that it will be physically impossible for her to have another child.
Well here's proof that our God hears and answers prayers because after 2 years of sincere prayer I was born. Now I've kind of promised Him that since he gave me life, I will give him my life in return. Being an Adventist my whole life I've learned so much about the Lord and all the truths we hold sacred.
Yet these past couple years have been absolutely crazy, so to speak. I guess Satan saw how close I was getting to the Lord and how much I wanted to give up for him so starting after my baptism in September of 06, he has tried his best to lead me astray and lead me down the wrong path. Not getting into too many details but he tried everything from drugs, girls, fame, you name it... he was pulling me into his realm. He almost succeeded too, and I have to admit I was really falling into the world. You could say I went through a very rough 'refining' process. And while I was at my lowest point ever God gave me strength to break free of the chains Satan had put on me.
Now the latter rain is almost here and I'm just getting ready to do the work that I know God has planned for me to do when he first brought me into this world. I can't wait!
It's good to have you abord! Please feel free to ask questions, make suggestions, and participate in the forums.
I would also like to invite you to join us in the Sabbath School Lesson Daily Study in the New Adventist/Bible Study Sub-forum. You will not only find the daily Sabbath School lesson but you will also find additional lesson helps for each day as well as for the entire week.
On Friday I post links for the next days complete Sabbath School Study Hour, including song service, from Sacramento Centeral Seventh-day Adventist Church where Pastor Doug Batchelor is the Senior Pastor. In case you're wondering how I can post a SS Study Hour that hasn't taken place yet, it's because they study 3 weeks in advance of the posted date and archive the program. We also post a sermon link so you can get an entire Sabbath church service at home which you can view at any time thats convient.
