I'm not an Adventist...yet - or maybe it's the case, as one of my favorite pastors Walter Veith said - I just don't know that I'm actually an Adventist yet. 
Ok so I was an RC for, well pretty much forever, until I watched the Total Onslaught series. After that I pretty much had a mental/spiritual breakdown but then the Lord came into my life and my faith has never been as strong.
I'm not into the whole Ellen White thing, I don't think. I trust no one anymore but my Lord and the gospel so don't think I'm being nasty it's just having been decieved for so long I'm very distrustful.
I'm undertaking my first every fast tommorrow, Sabbath, Sun up to Sun down so pray for me. I'm a big boy and I love my food so I don't suspect it will be easy.
Anyways hi hope to have a great time in this forum and hope to get to know some of you guys better.

Welcome to the forum!
Regarding Ellen Whites writings, it is normal to be a bit skeptical of them at first but I would encourage you, at some point, to read a book or two.... I know you will receive a blessing from it. The Great Controversy and Desire of Ages are two I would recommend.

Hmmm I don't know maybe I will read the books.
Hey I do love to read but I find I absorb info allot quicker by watching sermons. As I said I love Walter. Hey you guys will probably know better where I can find more stuff like Total onslaught maybe from different pastors?

The veggie thing is a personal conviction and is not required to be an Adventist (some would like to tell you otherwise but it's not). Personally, I have been SDA for almost 7 years now and I still eat meat occasionally...
As far as sermons that convict, I would direct you to one of the most powerful Adventist ministers I have heard to date... he does not mince words and is not afraid to shake a sleeping church. His name is Randy Skeete, I'll post up a video under a seperate thread for you to check out. I also have some other suggestions I can give you if you interested...
Reading EG White for most people is an easy chore as the message is compelling and her writing style is easy to understand. You can find her books to read online for free as well...

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am what some might call a "twice born" Adventist. I grew up in a very loving SDA home and went through the Adventist education system from elementary until I graduated high school. After high school I fell away from the church for a few years and as a result of surrounding myself with skeptics and non-believers I began to doubt everything I had known in regards to my own spirituality. During this time of doubt I began to question God's existence and really began to feel empty inside, as though my life held no meaning or purpose. Those were absolutely the darkest times of my life. Since then I am happy to say my spiritual life and personal relationship with God is back on track. That is not to say I haven't had my share of questioning along the way, however, it's no longer questions of whether God exists or not, but rather questions of what God wants for my life. Throughout my entire adult life, thus far, God has continually shown me that as long as I put my love, trust and faith in Him then He will always be in the driver's seat.  |
