Apparently God didn't have a beginning and has 'always been', well what was God doing before he created the Universe?
If God never had a beginning, then there must be (by definition) an infinite amount of time the God was around before he made the Universe, so what was he supposed to be doing for the previous eternity?
Time cannot exist outside the creation of the universe. When people refer to "before the universe" they usually are referring to a higher dimension of causality.

before this universe existed (supposing such to be a possibility)? Don't really know.
Before this solar system and planets were created? Causing other systems to be formed.

Lest heard it from the mouth of the priest:
If the world has begun with a single quantum, the notions of space and time would altogether fail to have any meaning at the beginning; they would only begin to have a sensible meaning when the original quantum had been divided into a sufficient number of quanta. If this suggestion is correct, the beginning of the world happened a little before the beginning of space and time. - Father Georges Lemaitre

“This is the most beautiful and satisfactory explanation of creation to which I have ever listened.” - Albert Eistein
Lemaitre described the beginning of the universe as a burst of fireworks, comparing galaxies to the burning embers spreading out in a growing sphere from the center of the burst. He believed this burst of fireworks was the beginning of time, taking place on “a day without yesterday.”

Hanging around in his parent's basement.
They always called him a louse and a layabout and told him to do something with his life.
