Yep, Newton was wrong. Except for in the specific case of everything we deal with every day. If you go outside of that case (speeds close to the speed of light, mass bending space), use Einstein - but it all reduces to Newton in the cases we deal with all the time on Earth. But wow, we don't want to teach kids general relativity - physics PhD students don't even have to take that class if we don't want to.
I was told as a substitute teacher I couldn't teach evolution in Florida, I couldn't even say the word. Now they have to teach in the schools and I am delighted. From what I read in the news paper, the reason why they are using the words scientific theory, is to give the religious people an excuse to not accept evolution as fact. Many people have complained that their religious belief does not allow them to believe in evolution.
What is next I wonder? It is against my religion to do homework or to learn science as it is a fact? Another step in the right direction for Florida's education is to help people accept evolution as a fact, people need to know the pope said catholics can believe in evolution, they just have to believe God caused the mutations in the DNA. So the educators have to help the students accept evolution, they like to think of excuses to not believe evolution, but with the right help we can help all Floridans get a good education of biological evolution.

Not doing your homework would be seen as reducing your future earnings potential which would reduce your ability to donate money to said fundamentalists.
So they would be against the banning of homework.

Sadly the Pope's ideas on evolution matter little outside South Florida. Its fundie land up there.
