I live in Florida, and this is one step closer to better education. Yes, it's a small step, but I only had one teacher in high school who actually dared uttered the word, "evolution." An acquaintance who took the class with me, it was an anatomy and physiology elective, dropped the course because he was offended by the very word.
Remember, Florida is ranked fairly low in the nation in terms of quality of education. Nobody really seems to care.

Putting 'scientific theory of' in front of EVERYTHING is actually a blow to the creationists, and they're beginning to realize it. If gravity and germs are a theory, and we know they work, then evolution as a theory must be true as well! That's the thought process we can now expect. If everythings a theory, everything is equal.

This is true, but it depends on good teaching. The focus now needs to be in making sure the teachers are properly educated themselves as to what a scientific theory really is, or they could still get fooled by the creationists.

Next on their agenda, no doubt, is to attack scientists who present Heliocentrism as a fact. Everyone knows it is just a theory.
Uh isn't it a now discredited theory? I mean really the sun is jsut the center of the solar system, not the universe.
In the other thread on this tpoic I pointed out that Newtionian gravitational theory, which Florida accpets as fact, has also been discredited at the edges. (Mercury does some things it should not according to Newton).
I think I'd much rather be the cousin of the orange than the speaker.

so he's saying the members of the flordia education board are a crossbreed of turkeys and maggots formed in an auto accident... and you're saying that the board ruled against the creationists?
