Announce to the world a certain area will be without lights, so they can plan ahead. And get a jump on crime.
Breaking into a goverment building or attacking employees, sounds lke they'll enjoy it. But who cares who is harmed as long as the enviroment is helped.

They had an "Earth Hour" here in Sydney last year.
Great idea - turn off all the lights for an hour, then watch as everyone drives in to the city to see the skyline without lights on.

I think this is a great idea. I don't think many buildings need to have as many lights as they do. However, I also agree that for some gov't buildings, they should do it on a RANDOM date not announced before hand. Not sure I want people to know the pentagon or someother crucial gov't building will be vulnerable.

I think its a wonderful idea but I'm worried about crime as well. I certainly wouldn't want to be in a bad area of town at that time.
