You are defending an attempted murder. I don't think I understand your line of thinking. A white person gets murdered... And... If this country wasn't led by white men,
conservative Jewish men and black men, like Clarence Thomas, it would make Sierra Leone look like Shamayim.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ ... (II Corinthians 10:3-5) |

Reps: 565,071 (power: 571) | | BTW you have GOT to be kidding right? It would be the lead on every major news channel (a la: Fox News, CNN, etc) for one thing. Then the "Christian" news services would call for the kid's crucifixtion and would immediately blame activist homosexuals and the inheirent "sinfulness" of the "homosexual lifestyle". Your bias obviously clouds your perceptions. You equate Fred Phelps' obnoxious and unbiblical view with the view of every Christian. You're wrong. You're steeping your own views in hate brewed at the polar opposite of what you think others believe, and that's no more moral or healthy than Phelps' nonsense.

Reps: 565,071 (power: 571) | | Thou sayeth. There's nothing "unBiblical" or "UnChristian" about what Phelps and his minions say. He makes good use of the "No true Scotsman" fallacy in his protests, that's what makes him such a hilarious Poe.
When it is boiled down everything he says is just a less polite version of what every far-right denomination of Christianity is saying. I happen to think Phelps is an actor hired by homosexual activists. Hired purely to expose the heinous viewpoints of religionists here in America.
Do you remember whos' funerals Phelps first protested? Oh no, it wasn't dead Marines. It was 'teh Gheys' such as: Matthew Shepard. There were of course no demands from Right-wingers for laws restricting freedom of speech then because we all know they tacitly approved of what Phelps was doing. The paper in effect is not saying any of that, the paper presented some ideas based upon interviews with various folks, students, police etc.
Please point me to the places in the quoted article where the paper made these statements.

So tonight, let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?
This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time – to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:
Yes We Can. "
