Don't ask... It's a long story.

We were currently boarding boats and arresting people at the time and the other guy in the room with me asked me to read the bible to him. So I read John 3:16 cause we were just talking about stone cold steve austin. He thought that the initial the link was funny and kept listening. It was interesting cause he of all people did I not expect to be receptive. Praise God though, he was intentive and asked questions. It kind of taught me to not consider the individual but instead what God's plan could be for someone. My point being who and I to know His plan. |

I was one of only two Christians in that class, and since it was peer review as much as teacher grading, even though I wound up having to drop the class, because I kept speaking on Christian Topics(as did the other dude, and he also dropped). Even though my knees were knocking, my voice went to the back of my throat twice, still, by the Grace of God, I did it. I shared the Romans Road(Only Method I knew at the time) to a couple of Muslims, some Atheists, a Wiccian, a Hindu, and some Agnostics.... I was faithful to what God told me though, and I preached the Word, I don't know if even one of them has come to know the Lord, but I pray my witness meant something, maybe it was a seed planted, maybe it was water, but I hope it was something.... |

Reps: 733 (power: 0) | | My wife and I wear distinctive plain attire so that it is obvious we are Christians. It is quite common for people to ask us if we are Mennonite or Amish. One instance that comes to mind happened one evening when we were eating at Barnhill's Country Buffet. From several tables away, a gentleman asked if we were Mennonite and inquired about our faith. During our conversation, a lady came up to us and essentially thanked us for being a good example, praising the prevalence of Mennonite missions. This is just one of many times when looking set apart from the world has given us an excellent opportunity to witness. |

I had just gotten there and I was tired so I stopped there and went and sat at a bench. After it got dark this one dude walked u pto me and tried to begin a conversation. right away i could see that he was gay so I was gonna tell him to burn off but the Holy spirit rose up in side me and had me telling Him some things that had happened when he was 6 years old. Dude began to cry and told me that he knew it was God that was speaking thru me. He got down on his knees all on his own andasked me to pray for him. So I did. and I led him thru a sinners prayer and God set him free. The next morning I met him at thersame spot and he looked totally different and when we went to eat breakfast he was telling everyone there at the restaurant what God had did in his life. It was totally awesome. |

I lived only one block away, so it wasn't like going out of my way. Initially, I spoke to strangers as a way to take a break from college studies, but in no time it became a very fruitful work.
I would visit the shops, say hi to the owners, and if a converstation arose, I'd go with it. One of the stores was a head shop owned by a fellow by the name of George Hillburn (George, if you're still out there and you read this, please reply. I'd love to hear from you).
Next to George's checkout counter, he set a bar stool, and that's where I parked myself frequently when I went to visit him. For perhaps two years, I dropped by, and at times I found opportunities to share the gospel. It was always done in good taste and never shocking. Just talk among two friends.
Then, one day out of the blue, George asked me, "You know what you've been sharing with me over the years?"
I replied no George, what do you mean?
"You know, about Jesus," he said.
I said, "Yea, what about it?"
He told me, "Well, I want to do it."
"You mean you want to give your life to the Lord, George?"
"Yea......." and that's when I led him in prayer. It was one of the most amazing moments in my life as a novice evangelist. So simple, yet so very powerful. The presence of God at that moment felt palpable.
Within no time, George sold his business, returned to California, entered a seminary, and the last time I heard he was working as a missionary in Columbia, South America.
We kept in touch for a little while, and I could tell that within George developed a deep love for the truth. I knew the Lord had great plans for him.

Reps: 44,198 (power: 49) | | | Wow, the testimonies in this thread are awe-inspiring and awesome! It's SO cool to read about how other people are witnessing, and how people got saved through those efforts! God is awesome!
A few weeks ago, I gave an MRE (Military-Style Meals Ready to Eat) with a bottle of water and some gospel tracts to a homeless guy under a bridge. I also prayed with him, though not a salvation prayer.
That same day, 2 Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door, and we talked for about 20 minutes. One of them came back the following week, and I set up 2 chairs under the shade of a tree in my front yard, and I spent a good while trying to witness to him.
Years ago, I witnessed to a guy out on an open field at night for about 3 hours, after we had just finished sparring with each other (we were both martial artists). Unfortunately, he said it sounded "too easy" and did not accept Christ.
At one place I used to work at, I witnessed to this Mormon guy for weeks, and even gave him some books to read. He came back the next day and returned the books to me, saying that he didn't want anything to do with them anymore, and he didn't want me to talk to him about Jesus anymore. I asked him why, and he said he was reading the book that was written by an ex-Mormon that got saved, and, while reading it, he saw the face of Satan on his ceiling. He got so terrified (he was about 20 years old) that he was screaming out loud, and his mom came to calm him down.
Many years ago, I led a little kid to the Lord, and, after praying, he said, "I feel different!"
After sitting through the movie, "The DaVinci Code," I ran to the entrance and gave gospel tracts tailor-made for the book & movie to everyone leaving that movie. One guy thought I was giving out coupons for free popcorn! They all eagerly took the tracts, and even stopped and held up the line until I gave them one. A couple people even returned asking for more to give to their relatives!
Years ago, I was witnessing to a drunk, and he said, "If you mention that Name one more time (i.e., the Name of Jesus), I'm going to punch you!"
A few of us went outside a Jehovah's Witness Convention one time (it was unbelievable how many JW's were there!) and put gospel tracts on all the cars in the parking lots. However, since JW's are not allowed to read any literature from any other Religion, they likely got thrown away.
Years ago, while riding a bus to another state, I sat next to a Jehovah's Witness, and witnessed to him the entire night, except for the 2 hours sleep I got. Even though I got such little sleep, I felt great the next day!
Other places have been: Welcome Centers, outside a College football stadium when thousands of people were there, in front of a movie theater, at the Mall, at an 1800's Festival, at a town festival, going door-to-door, etc.
When I stop at a gas station, I tape a gospel tract to the front of the gas pump, so that when people pump gas, they will hopefully read it. When I go to a grocery store or department store, I lay gospel tracts on the shelves. When I go to a public restroom, I leave gospel tracts. I used to stop at parking lots and put gospel tracts on a bunch of the cars, but I haven't done that in a while. All this is probably not as good as talking to people face-to-face, but at least it hopefully does something. Sometimes I feel like I'm too much of an "undercover Christian" when I only leave tracts laying around, instead of talking to people face-to-face.
It is God Who saves, yet He gives us the awesome privilege to participate with Him in His awesome work of salvation. It is also a command, so if we witness to people, we are only doing what we are supposed to be doing. And, unless we do it in the power of the Holy Spirit (i.e., if we do it in the weakness of the flesh), it will do no good. Unless we do it out of love and compassion, it will likely be fruitless...unless God, in His great mercy, decides to use it anyway.
But there are still billions of people out there who are going to Hell and who still need to hear about Jesus.
