Doh! I just read your post more carefully and noticed you said, " Does anyone know of any authors that have published archeological works on this subject..."
Oops! I had missed that one word, "archaeological," when I made my previous posts, which were aimed more towards proof for the Bible/Christianity/God/Jesus in general. So, in that case, regarding archaeology, check out this website:
Thanks for all the information friends. I'm going to the library with a very long list. lol
I was a little nervous asking for help on this site being a newbie, but you've all been ever so helpful.
I don't know if someone said this illustration yet,
I think it's from EE
Say someone thinks they don't need Jesus because they don't think they are sinners, an alternative to using the law, is simply to prove imperfection.
I.E.
"Oh you think you are a good person huh? I agree, you probably are a good person, and you probably only sin once or twice a day right?"
Sin is what the Bible calls imperfections they are like lying cheating stealing, looking at lust etc.
So say you only sin twice a day, (thats better than me!!) well how many days are in a week?
7
ok and how many weeks in a year?
52
ok and so thats 104 sins!!!
Do you think you are going to heaven with all those sins?
No
thats why Jesus came and died, to pay our bail,
just A=admit your guilt
B=Believe He died for you
And C=commit to recieve the gift of forgiveness
WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH ALONE!!! It's ABC simple!!!
Check your math.....
2 sins per day, 7 days per week, 14 sins per week
14 sins * 52 weeks = 728 sins....
Just sayin'.....
On a side note, I would just like to give you folks some advice when you are ministering to unbelievers. Quite a few of us, myself included, are not vehement God denyers. If I saw any kind of proof or witnessed his power I would gladly worship right along next to all of you.
I, like many other non believers, can be likened to Thomas. Why is it that Jesus proved himself to Thomas but refuses to show himself to us? My father tries to bring me to the cause of Christianity and I told him that if I am going to believe and be a Christian it will be because I truly am. Anyone, and sometimes I think many people who call themselves Christian, can say they believe but then not believe in their hearts. Wouldn't this make them a false prophet or a pharisee? Isn't speaking your dedication through your mouth but believing otherwise in your heart even worse than just not believing?
Honestly, I wish I had your faith. My brain does not permit me to have this blind faith. It makes me analyze and ponder each individual situation and deduce it to the most reasonable end.
Good luck, all of you. I only dropped in because I haven't been here in ages. May you and yours recieve all the happiness the world has to offer.
I don't believe people are saved by fun quotes, but nevertheless they are still fun
Mine is a creation one I heard last week.
You-You know how the dictionary was put together? Someone just threw up a ton of letters and words and they all fell in place as what we know today as the dictionary!
Them- Yeah right, that's impossibe...
You- Really? Well I guess that disproves the big bang theory...

But... that's not what Christianity is about. Not about math or probability or proving anything.
Not on a personal level but when it comes to witnessing it can cause some scoffer, deceived person, or someone in denial to begin to weigh the truth against the deceptions of the world and satan. So it is good to know what one would say to a lost deceived person in order to bring them to Christ the Saviour of us all.
My thanks to all of you for your testimonial prowess. I can only add one thing to all of this. I was miraculously saved by God in an accident where I should have been boxed up like hamburger in the end. But thanks to God I was spared when He literally laid me gently on the road with His mighty hand. What happened to me that day is beyond all physical possibilities yet it happened anyway. I felt God hold me from destruction at that point. That probability is/was impossible. But as the scriptures say " This is impossible for man but for God all things are possible."

It's the idea that people think that we came into existence by massive amounts of molecules and chaos turning into organized life...
We know this isn't possible, so the analogy is that the dictionary was formed the same way, tons of letters thrown all over the place forming tangible words and definitions.
