It's been awhile but I'll try to post it as best as I remember.
1. Go bring your picture up at photobucket
2. Go to top of page and save it to your computer (I can't remember but I know the hotmail code is a factor. I think you click it before you save it to your computer.)
3. Come back to christian forums and because of the glitch click on the link up there. Normally you would go to edit avatars ... the fourth option down on the left side of your subscription (threads) page or control panel page (find that at top of page)
4. at the top of the edit avatar box under "your current avatar" you will see a button that tells you to turn it off if you want a custom avatar ... click it off. Now go down to bottom of box where it says custom avatar ... click the button for custom avatar
5. click on browser ... which takes you to your computer pictures
6. find the one you want.
7. open it and it puts the code in the empty box to the left of the browse button.
8. save ... and that should do it
That's the best of my memory about it. If someone sees something I instructed wrong ... please point it out ...
alrighty then you're ready ... good luck ... let me know if it works

Just work your way through these slowly one step at a time:
(can't tell you abut ImageShack, Tinypics or other - never used them!)
To place your picture in Photobucket:
1. put your picture in "My Pictures" on your pc, making sure it is saved in jpg file type
2. go to www.photobucket.com
3. register yourself if not already a member
4. click on the "options"
5. This will give you a list of sizes. The 320 x 240 is usually best as you can see here
6. Now click 'save' and it will take you back to the first set-up
7. click on "browse" and find your picture in the pop-up window
8. click on your picture once, then on open, the pop-up window will disappear and a link will have been placed in the box beside 'browse'
9. click on "upload"
10. when the picture is downloaded, the screen will temporarily go blank then PB will come back again with your picture on file
11. underneath your picture are four boxes with HTML text in them
TIPS
If you left click ONCE in the a code box, the text will go blue and a yellow box 'copied' will briefly appear to the left. If this doesn't appear, click on it again.
However, I have found that if you're using Firefox, the copy feature here does not seem to work so right click on the blue coloured text and select 'copy' from the list that appears.
To place your picture on CF - there are four methods:
First method - implanting your picture in the post:
12. open a second Internet Explorer/FireFox tab so you can toggle between the two
13. copy the bottom line or IMG code in the same way as before
14. open up CF and the thread where you want to post your picture
15. right click and choose 'paste' which places the [img] tag in your post
Second method - using the icon on every message box
16. copy the url from the 'direct link' box in PB
17. click on the (1) and get the pop-up window
18. paste the url in the box (2) and hit 'OK'
or
19. right click on an image - maybe from an image search on Google or something
20. click on 'properties' and copy the url from the pop-up box
21. paste that into the window and hit 'OK'
Third method - direct copy and paste
22. right click on the image in PB and choose 'copy''
23. go to CF post, right click and choose 'paste'
(This only works in Internet Explorer)
Fourth method - creating a list of thumbnails at the bottom of your post:
24. make sure you're in the 'advanced' mode of the message box
25. below the message box, you'll find a panel "additional options"
26. in the middle a button marked "manage attachments" - click on this
27. a pop-up box will open with several 'browse' buttons
28. click on the top browse button; another pop-up will open in "My Pictures" on your computer
29. choose the picture you want and click on 'open', the pop-up will disappear
30. click on the top 'upload' button
31. when the process is completed, close pop-up window.
32. your picture will be inserted into a row of thumbnails at the bottom of your post and to see them better, readers just click on the picture and get an enlarged version in a pop-up.
NB use Ctrl/C for copy and Ctrl/V any time instead of the sub-menu on right click. These are known as shortcut keys.
Clever you - you've just posted your first pic!!
Do let me know if you have any difficulties.
I have a few websites with great smilleys. I open a new window and get the website up then keep them either on the desktop or minimized. When I want to use a smiley, I right click, copy that smiley then go to the post I want it in, right click and paste. When you've opened a site, make sure you save it in My Favourites in a special folder so you can access them easily.
Be warned some of these site contain some rather *rude* smileys! However, one or two are hysterical - Smiley Garden for one!
Reps are a wonderful way to leave someone a message or note of encouragement.
If you look at the icons next to the character on the left of the post you will see a palm with it's thumb up ... when you click on it a screen pops up and that is where you write the message and submit it. So if you're reading a post and you think wow! that was really cool ... you just click up there and tell them.
If you look up at the right of your post you'll see a row of green boxes ... maybe a yellow one on the end ... and maybe a star ot two above it. This is how much reputation you have by how many reps you've been given.
When you give someone a reputation note your reps that you have have points. Depending on how much your rep is is how much their rep goes up.
Your rep value as I understand it is the same as the word tithe ... tenth ... in a way it's tithing your time and effort ... in a way. So if you had a reputation of 1,000,000 every time you rep someone their rep goes up 1000 points. When your reputation reaches 1,000,000 you get a star. Not only is it good encouragement it can be quite fun!
The way you know who repped you is to go to the words control panel at the top of the page and click on it. When it pops up, the first section of the page as you scroll is the most recent threads you've been on.
The second section tells you who you've given reputation to. It keeps the most current twenty.
The third is a short little section with a red bar and a blue bar. It tells you how many reps you have left to give out or if you're out when your refill comes.
The fourth section is the reutation you've been given ... that is where you can read the notes people leave you.
If you are a site supporter you get forty reps to bless with. You can rep the same person as often as you like or spread them out.
If you are not a site supporter you get twenty reps a day to bless with. You can not rep the same person again until you've repped five others.
You can never rep the same post again after you've repped on it. If you want to rep the person again, you have to find another post.
I think that's everything (that's highly unlikely ... lol!)
God bless!
