I'd suggest checking out Larrivee Guitars. I've got a DV-10E and it's soooo sweet. As far as I'm concerned you can keep your Taylor's, I don't like their necks at all. Just my opinion. As for Martins, it seems to me you're spending an extra 400-500 bucks for the name alone. I'm also a big fan of the Gibson L-130. I like the 00 bodyshape. Happy Hunting!!

Blueridge blows them both away and only costs about 1/4th the price. They are made in China, but don't let that fool you. If you get a chance, pick one up and play it. |

Reps: 27 (power: 0) | | | Acoustic/Electric My Larrivee Dv10E came with a built-in Fisman under the saddle pickup. It sounds great. If you're gonna drop that kinda cash on an acoustic I would recommend that you get one without the big onboard preamps. chopping a big hole in the side of a guitar and screwing in a big hunk of electronics can't help the tone. There are plenty of external preamps out there. For recording, a condenser mic is definately a better way to go, but that can pose serious feedback problems if you play with a loud stage volume live. You can always add a pickup to a standard acoustic. I've had experience mixing guitars that use the Fishman Rare Earth pickup and they sound pretty good. For the most part, even if you put in an after market pickup, the better the guitar, the better it's going to resonate, and therefore the better the pickup will pick up signal. |

By acoustic/electric do you mean a regular acoustic guitar with a pickup or one of those hollow body with a piezo that feels more like an electric, but can be played as either? |

My Taylor 414mace has a pickup built in. They are nice guitars. Most acoustics are available with electronics built in. Plus you can always add a pickup later. |

Reps: 220 (power: 0) | | | Guys,
I played with two guitarist recently, one played an expensive Taylor and the other played a Gibson Hummingbird acoustic. The Hummingbird sounded robust-loud-full- focused. The taylor sounded dull-thin and tinty. A Taylor better than a Martin? Not in a Million years. You know I get so tired of these "New Brands" coming around and pricing their stuff up with the Big boys. Line6 guitar amp heads now cost more than a Marshall. Get real! Marshall Amps Built rock and roll, and Line 6 thinks within 5-10 years they are better than Marshall? Taylor better than Martin? Give me a break. There' alot to say about Tradition brothers! They didn
't get there by accident. When Taylor is gone in 10 years Martin will stilll be producing top line acoustics.
