You said "in the entire universe".

As for putting out "exactly the right amount of energy", our sun is a yellow star, which IIRC is the most common class of star in the visible universe. There are billions upon billions of stars putting out the same amount of energy.
(sorry for the cross-post. We even bolded the same part)

The naturalistic answer would simply be the reverse: we developed here *because* the conditions were right, not the conditions were right *so that* we could develop here. |

I guess whenever someone gets the "perfect set of numbers" in the lottery, it wasn't chance, but god designed.
Yes, there is a very small chance that this solar system would have complex life, however, the chance that some solar system, somewhere, at sometime would evolve complex life, is much larger.

We exist BECAUSE the sun is the right distance away (and myriad other factors) it's not that distance away so that we CAN exist. |

Reps: 5,365 (power: 27) | | | Sure I would bet my house on it, After the fact.
Remember, no matter how small the chance of it happening, this is after the fact. If it didn't happen anywhere in the universe, we would not be sitting here talking about it. Thus as far as our perception is concerned, the chances of it happening in the universe at least once = 1.
The problem is that we dont actually know the probability of it happening so its very hard to say that its a rare event at all, because we dont know.
Especially when you add time into the mix. Because im sure there are plenty of stars that could have supported life, that are out of that stage now. So who knows, maybe they did support life along long time ago.
Besides the fact, look at the lottery, there are very small chances of someone winning the lottery, yet often 2 or more people win, thus even small chances can happen often.
