I thought the evil theory of evolution told us to eat babies and bananas. |

Reps: 154 (power: 0) | | | It is actually the other way around.Say we have two organisms A and B(microorganisms). and two "food" sources, C And D. organism A can utilize C and D. Organisms can utilize C but not D. The source C runs out and all that is left is D. which organism will survive? We don't think about it that way because we and the things we use are complex to start and contain almost everything we need.we don't have to worry. wh ydo organisms eat what they do? why does koala dung smell like cough drops? cause they have evolved with the ability to really utilize eucalyptus...

Reps: 143,091 (power: 154) | | Actually evolution says we should eat the meek.
Christianity says the meek shall inherit the earth. Bah, us Godless evolutionists will devour those weaklings.
Seriously though, I always thought the bible had a rather grim view of vegetarianism.
Romans 14:1-4 1 As for the man who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not for disputes over opinions. 2 One believes he may eat anything, while the weak man eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who abstains, and let not him who abstains pass judgment on him who eats; for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Master is able to make him stand. (RSV)
This comment from the Christian Chruches of God http://www.logon.org/english/s/p048.html
"A vegetarian sets himself up as judge of God, denies the totality of the system of the food laws, denies the wisdom of the creation and the capacity of the human body to exercise and deal with the foods that given it to be received with thanksgiving. It says that God did not understand the structure and that the body will in fact break down following the rules of God. The arguments put forward are completely fallacious. It seeks to undermine the restoration of the last days and calls into question the ability of Messiah to institute just systems. The prophecies are clear that Messiah will establish a system and there will be meat eaten in the millennium and the restoration will take place and that Messiah will restore the sacrifice. All of this doctrine calls into question the activities and the wisdom of Messiah and the plan of God. It accuses both God and Messiah and is totally anti-Christian."

Well, this passage doesn't support your claim (although I'm sure you are not making a serious argument here, right?)
Paul is telling the people in the Roman church to stop fighting about eating habits and customs. We all know that some religious folk today have fairly strict policies about what you can and can't eat. Such was the case in the days of the early church. So they argued constantly about these things...each one claiming the throne of (self)righteousness...and saying the others are condemned for breaking God's rules. (Ironically, an all too familiar sound from some of the Creationists that hang around here.)
Paul says cut it out...you have no right to *judge* your brothers and sisters like this. Eat whatever you like...God won't condemn you for the food that you eat. If anything...this passage *supports* vegetarianism. |
