I'm a BTDT mommy - dd is almost 14 months and just weaned. Her choice, not mine, I would have liked to go on for months and months still but she nursed so rarely (once a day if I'm lucky, never mind how often I offer) that my supply is gone. I'm just grateful that we made to the all important 1 year mark!

Hisblood, have you considered starting solids a little early? You say LO is 5 months - exactly 5 months, or closer to 6? I'm guessing your LO is just plain hungry at night, and that your letdown isn't quick enough to satisfy that hunger. Once you've started solids (even if you wait until 6 months) I'll warrant things will get better quickly. Other than that, just keep pumping to keep your supply up; hopefully you'll soon find that solids take the place of the extra formula and then LO can get breastmilk and solids instead of formula.

Lucas got his two bottom teeth in together (Great fun really) and I was really apprehensive to bf. But he was fine with it, it took a time or two for him to not scrap his teeth against me, but he kind of knew right away how to eat with his new teeth, and now he only bites of he falls asleep while eating and forgets or when he gets cranky and pulls his head back while eating and bites down at the same time (BIG OUCHY)

They can still bite with bottom teeth. Sophie bites quite often when she falls asleep at the breast and when she's not hungry anymore...

Any advice for a new mum, having her 1st baby???
Go see a LLC before you have the baby to get some good pointers and know all the different holds... They are wonderrrrrful!!!

Hi all, had lots to read lol

I'm on my 2nd BF baby. Carlei I breastfed until she was 18 months, I would've continued longer but I had severe hyperemesis while I was preg. with Sophie, so I had to stop because my health was poor.

Sophie's now almost 6 1/2 months and we're still going strong.
I love BF'ing.. and although it was awful starting out the first time with Carlei, I'm so glad that I stuck it out. My LLC was amazing and said that she was shocked and amazed I kept through it because of how nasty my nipples got with carlei not latching correctly.. I think she said she had a high pallete. She did some crazy moves to help me find comfort lol... I love LLC's!!!

OUCH! I can't imagine. I guess i am lucky..i BF luke till 15 mos and he never once bit me .. a couple accidental scrapes of a tooth is all i ever experienced. He didnt get his first tooth till 8mos 1 wk old though either.
Anna still has no teeth..but now i am scared..i hope she dont try biting..i really dont want to think of it..arggh

My advice is..PROMISE yourself you will try for atleast 2 mos and then re-evaluate..no matter how hard it seems, how much it hurts, how much u think u hate it..etc! The reason i say this is..quite honestly the first 6 weeks can be a little hard and you'll want to quit several times! lol
Just know that if you make it that far..you've made it past the hard part and it gets easier and easier from there!

i want some advice/opinions/comments/hugs ....lol

I dont know if ya'll remember my thread a few months back where Anna was waking up every hour or two all night long because her binky fell out of her mouth and i kept having to put it back in?
Anyhoo...i weaned her OFF the binky at night and instead nurse her! Well now she wakes up numerous times all night long to NURSE! lol... she wants to constantly suck it seems! I know some of it is hunger..but mostly its comfort!
My poor hubby has been sleeping on the couch for over a YEAR now! Half way through my pregnancy i was so uncomfortable i couldnt have him in bed with me. Now i have her in bed sucking all night and we only have a queen size bed so its just pretty small for a 6'5 man and me and the baby..and i am afraid he will roll over on her..so he isnt allowed in my bed! Plus my 3 yr old Luke still wakes up half way through the night..and goes and sleeps on the couch with daddy the last half of the night..so if hubby came back to bed..Luke would be in bed with us half the night as well..and i would never sleep!

i am not sure what i am asking..lol. I am part venting..and part hoping for some advice to all this craziness! What should i do?

Well, you could try what No cry sleep solutions suggest.... one suggestion I read for night weaning was when you hear baby stir, wait a sec.. if it continues then slowly close her mouth.. like from the jaw.. I've tried it a couple times and it works....I don't know how.. but it does... I'm still nursing thru the night, but I've tried that a couple times. You could see if that works...
