If should be noted that staff still have some level of discretion, and infractions may not be automatic, especially in the case of new members, or possibly for the first violation.
The above is not considered a rule change, but more so a clarification of the existing rules, specifically in the case of words which are not censored, and how violations will be handled.

OK, cussing has been addressed under several different categories (blasphemy, triggering the filter, and non-filtered cussing). I'm readdressing it now to get rid of the inconsistencies between categories.
ALL instances of "cussing" will be moderated in a like manner. If reported, at minimum, a staff or member edit is required.
If someone posts "R-O-F-L-M-A-O" or "Hell!", moderators have the discretion to edit to "R-O-F-L" or "Heck!", or send a warning, or infract, but at minimum it should be edited.
For the sake of discussion, let's assume that "poop" is a horridly vile word. If a member posts p00p or p**p or poo-hoop or calls a member a [washmymouth][washmymouth][washmymouth][washmymouth]ybutthead, mods will send an RFE, or warn, or infract, but at minimum it should be edited.
Heck, darn, shoot, etc, are OK. In regard to abbreviations like SNAFU or LMAO, first, care should be taken because sometimes people use these abbreviations without knowing what they mean. Enough research should be done to make sure that we don't give someone an infraction for using the word asinine, an innocent acronym, etc.
If a mod contacts you about an ambiguous acronym or word, please educate them and provide them with information about the word or phrase.
In Summary:
1) All word violations are to be treated similarly.
2) Mods have discretion as to how they are treated.
3) All instances that are reported will at minimum be member or staff edited.

Reason: Removed portion pertaining to RFE.
Whilst I don't object to staff edits and perhaps warnings for use of these words, immediate infractions seem a bit harsh to me. Can we reconsider that, especially if it's a poster's first offense? I think infractions should be for chronic rule violations, not this.

So if we were talking in about donkey / mule breads but not about the bible, it would deserve a warning ???
Or if were talking about a Town in Michigan that "could" receive a warning ?

Isaiah 8:12-13 (NIV) "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread."
I agree on the blasphemy... but an immediate infraction for the others seem s very harsh!
And... ass??
In Britain it's a donkey....
hardly in the same bracket as hell...

I think those would fall within the realm of staff discretion, and should be aired in the report thread, if they occur.

What is going on with the immediate infractions around here?? Has anyone ever heard of the word "OR"? How about "staff edits OR infractions?" Why "AND"?
What are we, 4 year olds? You can watch a PG rated movie and hear those words. Are we really that easily offended around here?

I don't know about 4-year-olds, but quite a few people who've been on Staff for awhile tend to get into the "Staff=Adults, Members=Children" mentality, even going so far as to state "This is how I discipline my children."
This is a christian board - whats wrong with guarding our tongues?
Ephesians 4: 29. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Titus 2:6. Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7. in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,
8. sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
Collosians 4:6. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
James 1:26. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.
James 3: 5. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
6. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
7. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
8. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
10. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
11. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
12. Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring can yield both salt water and fresh.
13. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.
