While one person may not find anything wrong with slang words such as "gosh", "heck", or "poop", another person may have a different take on it entirely, and rule out all slang whatsoever, equating it with the "idle words" spoken of in the Bible.
It would seem to me that words considered to be offensive or remotely questionable are all a matter of opinion which differs from person to person.

I suggest anyone offended by those particular words or any others should stay out of public discourse.

Well, if that's how you feel then why even be a member here at a US Evangelical site? Given the tone of your post, I feel that this is a valid question.
You've been using the site for two years and hadn't noticed that it is not a 'US evangelical' site? It wasn't even started in the US.
Well, then. This is a slight rain on my parade mostly because I am indeed a potty mouth and use my cussing frequently. (I try to control myself in some occassions, etc. Just because I'm trying...). Aw, well. I guess I'll just have to accept the rules here... I sure hope I don't make a huge mistake or make 'em a lot and get my a-er...self in trouble ._.

## In discussions of Balaam's jenny. CAF censors the other word, so one has to specify that the animal, being female, is a jenny. The jenny is discussed remarkably often, so the word often gets an airing.
What CAF does not censor, is the UK equivalent of the censored body part, which is spelt quite differently in the UK. So some Britfilth gets under CAF's radar.
This is a christian board - whats wrong with guarding our tongues?
Ephesians 4: 29. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Titus 2:6. Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7. in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,
8. sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
Collosians 4:6. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
James 1:26. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.
James 3: 5. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
6. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
7. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
8. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
10. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
11. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
12. Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring can yield both salt water and fresh.
13. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.
## The analogy's invalid. Springs & their sources are inanimate - the tongue, though itself inanimate, is controlled (or not) by something not inanimate: the human person whose tongue it is. And springs do not get frustrated, narked, or fed up; people do. Besides, some people are a right pain in the neck - cursing them is (marginally) better than kicking their heads in, or giving them a Glasgow kiss (AKA a head-butt).
A really inventive enemy will always find some horrible thing to say about Christians, however innocent & blameless they may be. That's human nature So does it really matter whether they are guilty of bad language ?

What exactly is corrupt communication? I don't think it has anything to do with the words chosen... I think it has more to do with whether it is meant to hurt someone or help someone. Sometimes sugary language does not communicate anything.

## this is one of those passages that is obscurer in English than in Greek - so it needs to be translated again In 1 Corinthians 15.33, the AV-KJV is talking about "mixing in bad company".
In Eph.4.29, the RSV translates:
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear
- but evil talk need not be coarse or obscene. I think your understanding is right; & that "that it may impart grace to those who hear" explains the rest of the verse.
(I forgot that British & US English mean different things by the word "butt" )

"Bum" is another word that has distinctly different meanings in English and American.
