TAV is the 22nd and final letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It therefore "marks" the completion of the letters or of God's WORD or Covenant, and at the same time represents the WHOLE of the Covenant or the MARK of the Covenant.
TAV literally means a mark. The ancient letter was in the form of an X or cross. Even today, someone who is illiterate signs their "mark" with an X......
It is used in Ezekiel chpt. 9 as the "MARK" (tav) put upon those who are to be spared from judgment. Some disagree as to whether this was in fact the letter tav(a cross) or some other mark.
If one goes through all the words which BEGIN with the letter TAV, you will notice that many have a root which does NOT begin with TAV, possibly indicating that the tav is a prefix. I found several that would make sense to say the TAV was added to the root to make a word that means the "mark of" whatever the root word means.....for example the word TORAH - law, comes from the root y'rah - to TEACH. The TORAH is the MARK of teaching or written
On the other hand, there are many words where, the fact that they END with a TAV is more significant, particularyly those having to do with the COVENANT. The hebrew word for covenant is b'riyT
. The Hebrew word for a token of a covenant is owT
. ALL the Hebrew words that are tokens of the various covenants end with a TAV (tree of knowledge(daT), Bow(quesheT), foreskin (orloT), etc.(there are SEVEN all together)
The letter TAV as a number has a value of 400. The first piece of the promised land purchased by Abraham for a burial site, was 400 pieces of silver..... the amount of time of sojourning by the children of Israel before entering the promised land. The promised land was symbolic of the whole Covenant, for it was the place of REST from their enemies.
TAV is spelled TAV(400)-VAV(6), so it has a total numeric value as a word of 406. 406 is a triangular number. Two of these 406 triangles overlapped form a star of David of 541. The numeric value of the word Israel is 541. (see link below)
The 22nd use of the word mystery in the New Testament tells of the mystery of the woman and the beast and the fact that*(Rev 17:17) For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
I'll continue later with the 7 tokens or seals of the covenant.
