Reps: 29,467 (power: 54) | | | X-Men: House of M What does the M stand for?
This is the question on every student's lips as he or she enters the new sister school of Xavier's School for the Gifted. Speculation ranges from "House of Murder" to "House of Me" to "House of Midlife Crises." If you want to know the real answer, ask the headmaster. Magneto will assure you that it stands for "House of Mutants."
What he won't tell you is why he is headmaster of a school for mutants in California. The Secret Wars between humans and mutants are common knowledge at Xavier's, as is the near-murder of Kitty Pryde.
Perhaps the House of M should have been named the House of A--Atonement, that is.
Magneto is no stranger to teenagers. He had, after all, led some of them in various attacks on humans. But that was war, and teenagers behave much differently in war than they do in peace.
But is the war truly over? Have humans and mutants finally reached a peaceful coexistance?
No. What does this mean for Headmaster "'Neto" and his students? Only time will tell....
-----------------------------------
All right, this RPG is what it sounds like. After nearly killing Kitty Pryde in battle, Magneto was filled with remorse and horror, rethought his life, and sought atonement. As payment for his crimes, Xavier made him headmaster of a new school/haven for mutants in California, to prove he'd really changed.
This RPG will be mostly character-driven at first, though more....direct conflict will arise later on. You can play a student or a teacher at the House of M, though I'd prefer students. Please, no mutant children, unless you have another teen or adult character as well. Unless your character is a teacher, I'd prefer it if he/she was 11-17.
Rules:
No sex, gratuitous violence, or references to the F-word.
No more than two strong powers per character. (Examples of strong powers: telekinesis, super stregnth, control over electricity, pyrokinesis, teleportation, etc.) If you want more than two powers, make them weaker, and no more than four weak powers, please. (Weak powers: wings, ability to stick to walls, mild precognition, etc.)
Not everyone will trust Magneto. Most of the kids will either be from around the West Coast area (Washington, California, Oregon, Arizona, Montana, even Canada and Mexico) or transfers from Xavier's. Some of them will trust him, but not completely.
Try to use correct spelling and grammar. Trust me, it makes the whole story a lot easier to comprehend--and the RPG is a lot more fun when people can understand what you're saying.
Be creative.
Have fun!

Reps: 29,467 (power: 54) | | Magneto wasn't at all what Alicia Renner had expected. She had expected him to be taller, for one thing. Perhaps it was the combination of TV news reporters never meeting with him in person and their constant descriptions of his incredible powers that had made her think he should tower over her. As it turned out, he had her beat by just a few inches.
"Welcome to the House of M, Alicia," he said, shaking her hand.
"Thanks." His voice--somewhat frightening on the news--was deep and consoling in person, and she liked it immediately.
"Your parents and teachers have already told me quite a bit about your powers," he said, leading her down a hallway. Alicia yanked up the handle on her suitcase and rolled it along behind her. "Class four, if I'm not mistaken."
"That's what Dad said."
He smiled. "I also heard that they're quite similar to mine."
Alicia couldn't help smiling back. "That's what my PE teacher said. And my chemistry teacher...and the principal....and pretty much every other person at my school who saw my powers in action said."
He laughed along with her. "A little training should get them under your control. Can you find your way around?"
"I think so."
"Girls' dorms are to the right, up those stairs."
She smiled, then headed up the stairs. "Thanks."
------------------------------------
The scrap of paper in her pocket said her room was number 221, a room she found to be about the size of her old bedroom, furnished with two beds, a nightstand, a lamp, one dresser, and a closet.
Her roommate hadn't arrived, so Alicia busied herself with putting her clothes away and hanging up posters, careful to keep her things on one side of the room. If her roommate didn't like Led Zepplin, so be it: She could hang all the posters she wanted on her side of the room.
Magneto was nice. The realization surprised her, but she couldn't deny it: He wasn't cruel or vindictive or scary. He actually reminded her a bit of her own grandfather. Whatever had happened to him had made him someone she would enjoy studying under.
Alicia finished putting up her posters, then stood back to admire the effect.
This was going to be a good year.

Reps: 323,007,889 (power: 323,012) | | | Tayanita walked up the walk to the front of the House of M, she had been sent her by her parents to learn from a stranger. How could this man know what is like to be different, she thought to herself. She still could not believe her parents had came and taken her away from her aunts house, then placed her on a bus with a one way ticket to this place. She opened the front door and walked into the foyer, the taxi cab driver placed her bags on the floor beside her. She turned and gave him a tip, before turning back around to see where she needed to go. A man was walking toward her; Hello, he said, My name is Magneto and welcome to the House of M; Tayanita. Tayanita was taken back by this man knowing her name and she did not know what to say. He seemed like a very nice and caring person he reminded her of her uncle Tait. Oh how much she missed him right now, he was the one other person that understood her and her fears. I know this hard for you to come to a new place like this, but i know you will grow to like it here being around others. Your parents told me alot about you and i would like to get to know more. Thhhhaank YYoouu forr the wwellcomme, she stuttered. She took a big breath and reached out to shake Magnetos hand. He shook her hand warmly then said I know what it is like to be scared, so hang in there. Well let me point you to your room, you go up the stairs then go to the right you will see the girls' dorms. Do you have your room assignment? Tayanita shook her head yes, then reached down to pick up her 2 heavy suitcases and a overnight bag. She trudged up the stairs without looking back. At the top her stopped and struggled to get the letter out of her jacket pocket. She unfolded and skimmed quickly thru it till she found the room number. |

Reps: 6,019 (power: 14) | | Dana-Jade walked the halls of the House of M, with her bags trailing behind her, trying to find her room. She was nineteen, and probably the oldest mutant in this school who wasn't on the faculty. She'd graduated last year, but was staying at the House of M until she was accepted into the local Acting college. The professor suggested that while she stayed there, to keep an eye on Magneto and how he handles things. So far, so good, she thought, but it wasn't that easy to earn her trust. It would be quite a while before she would trust Magneto with her life. Then again, she really didn't need to trust him with her life. She could take care of herself. Soon, her mind began to wander upon other things as she made her way to her door and fumbled in her pocket for her keycard. The college, for example. "Oh, we've just filled up. But you're the first one on the waiting list, and you've already ben accepted." she said in a mock voice, repeating a phone call she'd had with the faculty of the college a couple months before, "If someone drops out, you'll be the first to get in." "Yeah, right." she said in her normal voice, "My friend back home got into that same college, and she applied after I did. Oh, and what a surprise," she opened the door, "she's not a mutant!" After finding that out, DJ wrote a letter, in the form of an essay, to the faculty, explaining how she wouldn't tolerate this discrimination, and how she wasn't going to give up that easily. It was the best essay she'd ever written. Not to say that she didn't want her friend to get accepted, she just wanted to be treated the same as the humans that applied there. DJ stared into her room, finding one bed. This surprised her. All the time she was at Xavier's, she'd had a roommate, and now she was alone. More room, and more privacy. Aspects that she liked. She walked in, placing her bags on the bed and pulling her brown gloves tight. She could get used to this.

Once finished with the posters, Alicia sat down on her bed and went over her class schedule again. All the basic classes were there--World History, Algebra II, 10th Grade English, Biology, PE--along with one class she assumed was unique to mutant schools: Force-Power Training and Control, taught by Magneto himself. She smiled; she would be learning from the best.
Alicia opened her laptop and checked her email. Just like they'd promised, her parents had already sent her one: Allie, Hey! It's Mom and Dad. Hope you got there all right. A three-hour ride in a taxi can get pretty boring.... Anyways, just wanted to leave you a quick note saying that we love you and hope you have fun at the House of M. Magneto may have a pretty rough past, but believe us when we say he's done a complete 180. We wouldn't let him teach you if he hadn't. Be good, and learn as much as you can. Love, Mom and Dad.

Reps: 1,137,615,395,740,470 (power: 1,137,615,395,782) | | A dark black car pulled up to the schools gates, it had been a long car ride from the train station, and an even longer train ride. A dark figure emerged from the drivers side, walking around the back of the car to let out the overly quiet passenger. As the figure opened the door, two small feet appeared into the dim light of the day, followed by two scrawny legs, and then two knobby but elegant knees, and finally a thin torso of a girl, about 16 years old. Stella stood up, dusting off her knee length skirt, and grabbing her small messanger bag from the back seat. The driver looked at her, and nodded, smiling to himself at the strange quiet girl before proceeding to remove her bags from the trunk. Stella waited patiently for her bags, taking in the sight of the large acedemy and the smell of the fresh country air around her. The smell was something she had missed since she moved back to her parent's city apartment after her last school closed due to corrupt faculty.
Stella was hesitant to start a new school, with all that had happened at the last one, and the fact that she was on her own. Her twin brother decided to stay home and attend a regular high school to finish up his education, and get into a normal college, since his abilities were not as noticible as his sisters.
Stella sighed as the driver put her bags down on the front steps of the building, it was now or never. She slowly walked up to the baggage, nodding slightly to the driver as he walked past her and back to the car, anxiously waiting to leave once she got into the school. But Stella just stood there, staring at the dark Mahagony doors that led into the dorm area, slowly her hand reached out and touched the large brass door handle and as if it would break down, she slowly opened the door and peered inside.
After what seemed like an eternity, Stella collected the handles of her bags and rolled them inside, searching for the number on the door that she had checked and rechecked the whole drive over here. Slowly she made her way down the quiet hallways to where her dorm room would be. Her parents had already told her that she would be sharing a room, which scared her tremendously, since no one ever seemed to understand her.
When she found the room, she opened it carefully with the key the school had provided her, and inside there was a girl, already making herself comfortable and decorating in her own fashion. Stella withdrew her hand, holding her breath as if trying to hide in the shadows of the hallway. She watched the girl working on her computer for a minute, unsure of what to do next, but slowly something inside her drove her forward, pushing her into the room.
Stella didn't say anything she just slowly made her way to the empty bed, and quietly put her stuff down around it, sitting down on the bed to start to unpack, hoping the other girl would not notice her.
(((Lessien, I made her your roommate... good luck!!!)) |

Reps: 29,467 (power: 54) | | | Alicia didn't notice the other girl at first, she was so quiet. After a few minutes, though, she heard someone moving about the room and looked up from her computer.
"Oh! Hi! Sorry....you kinda scared me."
