Non sequiteur. after you explain what I asked
As soon as you explain how banning Christmas cards in one single primary school in Wales is an "act of aggression" worldwide against Christmas. Please enlighten us. a 160 year old tradition banned.
160 years? Christmas is an over 2,000 year tradition, and it is alive and well. In fact, Christmas taking place without a hitch each year is a continuous reminder that the "War on Christmas" is non-existent. It seems apparent that you do not consider the barring of Christmas traditions to constitute an act of aggression against the institution of it.
An "act of aggression"? An act of aggression is the violent repression of ideas that one dislikes. An act of aggression is a real war, where real people die for a real cause. This does not qualify under any of those definitions.
Don't like the way in which this primary school handles the distribution of Christmas cards? Fine. Nobody asked you to educate your children there. You are neither a Welsh citizen nor a primary school student, which means that this decision does not affect your life or celebration of Christmas in any way. It also does not affect mine, Komissar's, Flicka's, Erwin's, or anyone else in this thread.
Non-issue.

Silly flicka, facts have no place in the FWOC.

That is a lame excuse. I don't buy it. There was no problem for 160 years but now suddenly it's a problem? What's the matter, did they suddenly have all their recycling bins confiscated? Did the janitors go on strike? Was a child crushed by a pile of envelopes? The excuse is paper thin. It is one straw in the pile. 160 years? Christmas is an over 2,000 year tradition, and it is alive and well. In fact, Christmas taking place without a hitch each year is a continuous reminder that the "War on Christmas" is non-existent.
Well the school hasn't been around that long. Duh. It can't practice the tradition for 2000 years when it hasn't been around that long. And you're ignoring the fact that this is a hitch. The term 'war' is a metaphor. It clearly says that in the title. The word aggression is defined: aggression
• noun hostile or violent behaviour or attitudes. Don't like the way in which this primary school handles the distribution of Christmas cards? Fine. Nobody asked you to educate your children there. You are neither a Welsh citizen nor a primary school student, which means that this decision does not affect your life or celebration of Christmas in any way. Dude, go back under your bridge. If you don't like my complaining about it then you do not have to read this thread. No one is forcing you to, and there are no negative consequences if you ignore it. I am free to call attention to things like this even if you would rather see them swept under the rug. |

I've made changes in my own life, changed things, started doing new things, stopped doing other things, etc. It's a process. Nothing is just going to continue on in perpetuity without question forever and ever. They stated their reasons and even suggest exchanging Xmas cards after school, but you want to argue over it. Why? Who the heck knows. Why don't you call the school and voice your opinion to them, where it counts. But be warned, it doesn't matter if you "buy it" because your opinion means nothing to them and they can and will do what they want. |

If a 2,000 year tradition can survive true persecution, repression, and nearly everything else, it can survive a primary school in Wales.
Or is the Christmas institution so weak that it cannot handle something as miniscule as a ban on Christmas cards in Wales? Well the school hasn't been around that long. Duh. It can't practice the tradition for 2000 years when it hasn't been around that long. And you're ignoring the fact that this is a hitch.
Yes I know it hasn't been around for 2,000 years. You miss the point, which is that if Christmas can survive 2,000 years of repressive kings and horrible (true) persecution, it can handle a primary school in Wales.
This is a hitch? So I take that to mean that due to this few-and-far-between ban, you will be prevented from celebrating Christmas your way? Christians will be thrown in jail for saying 'Merry Christmas' next year due to a ban at one primary school in Wales?
The "Slippery Slope" argument is a logical fallacy. The term 'war' is a metaphor. It clearly says that in the title. The word aggression is defined: aggression
• noun hostile or violent behaviour or attitudes.
Yes. I am well aware of the fact that the "War on Christmas" is a metaphor, the meaning of "aggression", and that this so-called "war" is baloney. Dude, go back under your bridge. If you don't like my complaining about it then you do not have to read this thread. No one is forcing you to, and there are no negative consequences if you ignore it. I am free to call attention to things like this even if you would rather see them swept under the rug.
Please point out where I said that you were not free to call attention to this news item. My point (another that you missed) was that if you don't agree with the actions of this primary school, that is perfectly OK. You're not a Welsh citizen, you're not a primary school student and you don't have children in the primary school system in Wales. Therefore, this decision has absolutely no bearing or consequences on you, your family, your traditions, or the Christmas season.
End of story.
