I will replace all of my daughters barbies with something a little less disgusting and send them all back to mattel with a note letting them know they have lost my childs allowance money and any money we may have spent on them also. |

Three girls make 'potions' and then lift their glasses (which look like they come with the Barbies) and look like they are going to drink - then the commercial ends. The potions are to attract the attention of boys, I think.
A year ago I wouldn't have batted an eye - now I was really creeped out. That's one Barbie I will not be getting for my daughter - and I am a person who doesn't mind Harry Potter. I think it was the whole aspect of tying in the kids making a love potion with the doll.

Why is it so hard to believe that this doll can spark an interest in witchcraft??? People need to wake up and realize that this sort of thing is serious. Do you honestly think Jesus would approve of this? Come on.

Reps: 273 (power: 0) | | And a toy that bothers me, does not necessarily bother another set of parents.
You're own words... It bothers you that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be made.
Secondly, If I was to take this doll as seriously as you seem to, then I too would be outraged. She is far to 'fluffy'. I don't want my kid growing up a wannabe pagan. I want her to follow the spirit in her heart. Making love potions, toying with emotions in other words, is not part of being pagan, wicca, or any other self respecting earth based religion. Thank you very much.
Finally: Did none of you ever read/play with/expose yourself to anything that made you pretend even for the smallest moment that there was magic in the world? Never? If so, then... I pity you more than you can ever know. If not, then why are you so worried? You fantasized about magic and then you grew up and decided/discovered/were enlightened to the fact/whatever that your God doesn't abide by it and therefore it comes from the Devil and is evil ect and forgot it to go on with your happy, Christian, lives. So what's the problem?

I find it interesting that Christians have a problem with saying "abracadabra" to get someone to fall in love with you, but aren't likely to have a problem with saying "god please make this person fall in love with me" to get someone to fall in love with you. |

I, for one, was influenced by Batman. I wanted to be the Dark Avenger so badly, I even dressed up like him for Halloween.
Then I grew up.
Give your kids credit, unless you did a bad job as a parent, they should know the difference between make-believe and reality.
