Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | How do you? After you get saved and become a Christian...say you have been living in a bad situation, or all of your friends are bad influences...how do you get out of those situations. Most new Christians aren't able to stand against all of that change, and they don't know how to get out of their lifestyles. What should one do to live a holy life for God, when everything you know is against that life?

1Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
The Christian life is a struggle; it requires decision and effort. God gives us victory with our complete commitment and best effort.
__________________ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2) Faith in Christ is not belief without proof, it is trust without reservation.
I have found no greater joy, than to live totally surrendered to Jesus Christ.

Don't go to 'those' places where your old friends go.
Invite your old friends to chruch, they won't hang around long.
Live your life to please God and not man.
(easy to say)

However, having said that, my general suggestion for those in more dire situations is to see a pastor or counselor at church. Depending on the situation, the pastor/counselor would be in a better position to assess the problems and offer guidance.
If the situation is not dire, seeking advice from a mature Christian (such as a deacon or deaconess) would be a logical step, IMO. Prayer for wisdom and God's will is always needed, of course. |

Anyway, there are churches who have different fellowship groups. I would get involved in a group as soon as possible. These forums are great, but 'cyber-fellowship' has definite limitations, especially for a new Christian. Many churches have new Christian groups, women's groups, bible study groups, some are even broken down by age. Once you get involved in these groups, you will meet some wonderfull Christians, face to face, who will be an invaluable part of your spiritual growth and support system.
The rest will take care of itself. Or, should I say, God will take care of the rest.
