Old ocean fossils and plate tectonics

Are we finding oceanic fossils older than the oldest peice of oceanic plate? I think the oldest oceanic plates are like 140 milion years old or something (only atlantic?). Are all the fossils being discovered on the accretionary prisms or something? Maybe the pacific plates are much older and thats where we are finding them. Would someone please help me on the topic.

If you want to look at the oldest ocean floor it might be appropriate to look on dry land from about 3.8 billion years ago. The late pre-cambian contains marine fossils.
The ocean floor is quite a dynamic zone in which some areas are continually changing through plate movement.

Thanks. Yeah. I was wondering where we were finding ocean fossils if they were older than our oldest ocean plate. Are you saying that our dry land was once an oceanic plate, and we're finding them on dry land?

Just because some crust is not oceanic does not mean that it was never underwater. Just look at the modern continental shelves. They are not floored by oceanic crust and yet they are collecting oceanic fossils.

I wonder if we have lost much of life's history in the mantle due to plate subduction.

The continental plates have the old rocks which are used to date the earth. The appearence fossils is about 3.8 billion years ago some of which are marine.
