Some do. Joseph Stalin was one of them.

Actually that would be something like Lamarckism and it wouldn't have much to do with Darwinism.

Really. Didn't you ever hear of Lysenko? Stalin was about as anti-Darwin as you could get. He rejected Darwinism and nearly destroyed Soviet agriculture in the process. http://skepdic.com/lysenko.html
Rejecting Darwinism for idealogical reasons turned out to do the people of the Soviet Union a lot of harm. Is there are lesson here?

Reps: 5,365 (power: 27) | | | Yep. "Darwinism" is quite a few different things, from the beginings of a biological theory, to social theories and ideas. Distorted version of "survival of the fittest" have been used as an excuse to kill people in the past.
Luckly the biological part broke away from darwinism and became the theory of evolution.
This is of course why anyone who calls the "theory of evolution" Darwinism, is building themselves a strawman, since its much easier to attack Darwinism than the theory of evolution.
I also mention a distorted view of survival of the fittest because many seemed to think that it ment "The strong survive (the bullies and those willing to take advantage of others) and the weak die (those who are good people)." But in reality when you try to put Natural selection in a social setting, it becomes very complicated and often the "weak" as some see them, end up surviving, suggesting they were not actually weak afterall.
