Holy Fools

As I have stated in other responses here I am moving towards being chrismated Orthodox. However, my wife is not. Since we have made this decision, the wall of conflict has been lowered. I am no longer trying to "convert" her, and she is no longer trying to "bring me back." While we certainly feel a sadness over the whole situation, we were talking last night and this came up: Has our marriage become an icon of the current situation the church finds herself? In short, have we become holy fools?

What's odd about this is that we both have had the same thoughts regarding this but were afraid to share it with each other in fear of offending.

My wife is not against Orthodoxy, she simply feels that her work as a childrens ministry coordinator is not finished. She honestly believes that when it has finished she will know and will convert to Orthodoxy.

Have we become holy fools, or are we just fools?

Peace.

Peter

P.S. We have had extensive meetings with leaders on both sides of this issue.

Peter,

I know that the decisions you and your wife are having to make are not easy ones.

I would only say to you, remember to love your wife always as Christ loves the Church and that while Orthodoxy retains all the fulness of true worship, God's grace is definitely at work both within and outside of the Orthodox Church.

In time and with prayer the meeting of your faiths will come to blissful communion both at home and in the Church. Seek stillness in your heart as you pray and rest assured you are in the prayers of many, including the multitude of saints.

In the love of our Saviour,

Alfred

Why not start a children's ministry at your local Orthodox Church?
