It's 18 for all types of alcohol. Although I have vague memories of a trip to Vienna when I was 17, and not being able to buy vodka, so compensating by buying lots and lots of wine.
Actually, the drinking age is 5 (as long as you have parental permission, and possibly as long as it's in your own home), but the legal age to buy alchohol is 18. It's all very confusing.

is the legal drinking age the same for all of the US? When I was younger, here is NC it used to be 18 for beer and wine and 21 for liquor...then it changed to 21 for all types of alcohol. Back then, it varied between states....so is it now 21 everywhere? I'm rambling I know and it doesn't really matter since now I'm old and can drink whatever and whenever I want!

Legal drinking age in the US is set state by state with strong pressure from the federal gov't not to allow those under 21 to purchase alcohol.
Repression breeds depravity. Europeans can drink responsibly, but stupid american kids binge and binge and binge because they don't learn to drink with their parents and because it's so taboo.

It's 21 everywhere except for Louisiana. New Orleans makes such a profit off of 18-20 year-olds buying alcohol during Mardis Gras that they asked the national government if they could lower the drinking age to 18. In return the national government does not fund highway construction in the state of Louisiana.
