Reps: 2,051,704,970 (power: 2,051,718) | | Multiple Sclerosis Does anyone have MS? Anything you'd like to share: grief, praise, prayers, little things to cheer other up, things you're struggling with, when you were diagnosed?
I hate being tired.
I am glad it won't kill me so long as I take care of myself. My husband is amazing.
I wish I didn't feel so tired, it makes me feel lazy...
I often listen to upbeat music, or read when I can.
I get depressed from not being on the same level as my husband
I was diagnosed a little over a year ago. Subsequent to having seizures and a car accident.

I too hate being tired.
Hot weather has turned into a gigantic nightmare.
I take my shots, and pray for no bad reactions. (So far so good, thank God)
I look at where I am in life, and where my peers are and im devestated. Sometimes, I find it hard to relate to someone my own age.
Although I really wish I were married, I have to wonder if ever it will happen. I think my chances just got A LOT slimmer hehe.
Eventhough Im older than you Oddbeani, there are times that I sure do feel we are too young for this disease.
At the same time we are so blessed to know God. I dont know how people who don't know Him survive this life.

Heat I do not like, but I cannot do cold AT ALL. I have some heart issues, so my body doesn't do temp changes too well.
I was diagnosed almost two years ago, but lived in denial until about 10 months ago, when I realized I needed to deal with it, and checked into shots...I was going to be starting the interferon when my medical insurance canned me, and then I found out I was pregnant and couldn't start it.
Fun fun.

Reps: 154 (power: 0) | | | While I, personally, don't have MS, my wife and I have had a brush with it in the recent past. Thankfully, there hasn't been a positive diagnosis yet. It's still a possibility, but not until something more happens.
Last summer, my wife started having problems with her eyes. More specifically, a blind spot was developing in her right eye, near the center. At first, she thought she was in need of a new prescription for her glasses, but the optometrist said it wasn't the case. After nearly a month of struggling to find out what was wrong, we were told she needed to see a neuroopthalmologist (sorry, the spelling may be incorrect).
After an MRI, he discussed with us the possibility that it may, in fact, be MS. Needless to say, we were both shocked, and more than a little frightened. He suggested more tests, and we agreed. We weren't very happy with the doctor we had, but we didn't see much choice at the time, and went ahead with a lumbar puncture. After the doctor we were seeing botched the procedure (he ended up missing the correct spot twice, hitting a nerve in her spine and causing immense pain in her legs, before finding the correct area...oh, and don't forget the three shots of anesthetics.) we decided to find someone else.
Getting a second opinion was the best decision we made. This doctor told us that, at first, the problem with the eye was optic neuritis (i believe). And while Optic Neuritis is often associated with MS patients, it does not indicate for certain that she has MS. We were told to hope for the best, and if something further happens, go in and get checked immediately.
So, that's my story. It's been a long year, dealing with all of this, but I can only imagine that it's difficult for anyone dealing with such a scare, and even moreso for those who have it.
In other words, I just want to give you all my support. I'll keep you all in my heart and mind. |

Reps: 31,035 (power: 43) | | | UnknownUserName- I too have a Lumbar Puncture Horror Story, they tried 3 times on two different occassions. And got about a drop of fluid. The Drs were so rude and unprofessional- those were truly life defining moments for me. I refused to go back for 6 months, and even then my neurologist swore it was because of the pain of it. Pain goes away with medicine. If she only understood that during those days my faith in drs died. There is no pain medicine you can take for that.
Your first Dr should have explained that ON does not automatically = MS. Im glad that you got a second opinion. I hope that your wife's ON does not blossom at all. Having a good dr is so essential in this process.
Sometimes hard to find.
Congratulations on your bundle of joy Oddbeani. Hopefully it will be easier to get insurance and your meds once the baby comes.
