Hi CoastalMom22! Don't get discouraged and give up, that can set you back for years, trust me lol.. I'm not sure if you're wanting real critiques here or not but I'd give a shot at a couple of them if you wanted it. I can't say I'm pro or even close to being that good myself, but I've learned a ton over the last year and would be more than happy to share some of the knowledge.
My favorite shot of these here though is definately the piano music. Whether it was done intentionally with tones or noise I'm not sure. But it has that artsy, classy feel to it, great job with the DOF too!
Keep up the good work! And just remember it won't ever be a good shot if you never take it
1. Looks like a typical snapshot, not really anything all that interesting.
2. Good depth of field, nice lighting.
3. Good composition- it's perhaps a little cluttered, not much focus to the picture. There's too much going on in the background- there isn't one specific thing you are drawn to. Maybe if it were just the lion's face, or the rock in the back were cropped out. It's kinda distracting.
4. It seems not quite sharp enough, in the center. It's almost like it didn't quite focus properly. Perhaps you were too close for your lens range??
5. Kind of the same as the lion picture- nothing real specific to look at. Not really sure why I am looking at the picture- what was the reason for taking this picture?
6. The branch in the foreground is very distracting- if it were a narrower depth of field or if everything around the squirrel were a bit blurred.
7. Lens flare pictures are unfortunately not all that interesting. If it had been the sun streaming through the branches that would have been a great shot- unfortunately that's really hard to get right.
8. The leaves on the right hand side are dead and not that nice looking (compared to the ones on the right of the flower) Also there is another flower in the background which is kind of distracting. The yellow leaf, dead leaves and red flower make for an uneven background. It's slightly off center, it looks like it's not purposefully off center because of that. KWIM?
9. This one is good. There is enough in the background to provide contrast with the yellow of the flower. But there is still a very specific focus. It's slightly off center too, but it works- it's off center, and down to the right.. so it's even off center, if that makes sense? Where as the other one was just off to the side.
10. Pretty much the same as above. Same shot, just different flower.
11. The reflections are unfortunately distracting- you can see the reflections and the bottom of the pond. If it were one or the other it might be better. I like the composition though- the patch of lilies, some of the pond etc.
12. Good shot. Would have been a cool macro shot of the worm, if you had the right lens. Like the fact that you caught the worm when it was curved, and not just straight.
Overall thoughts:
~ Composition is good, as well as the subject matter. Problems are the little things in the background or side that are distracting. Pay more attention to what's IN your picture, not just what you are taking a picture of. If you went out one day and just focused on taking pictures of the single element in a photograph that you want to capture. Isolate the most interesting part of a scene and try to get nothing but that in your picture.
~ Another good idea might be to enroll in a beginners/intermediate level photography class at a local community college. If that is not an option, there are a ton of good books out there to read. Try your local library and see if they have any (if not, I know borders has a whole section.) You can even try google searching "photography tutorials" and see what comes up.
What kind of camera are you using now? Are you looking at upgrading?

Thanks so much for the nice words.
I think my problem is when i ask for criticism, i dont take it well. I have a horrible complex. I guess when i want criticism/critiques, i want what i can do better, not whats wrong with my shot. When that happens i get on the defensive.......get discouraged sorry for the mini rant
