Speaking of questions to believers,
Beyond the christian propaganda such as was talked about at the begining, are there any reasons to refuse to celebrate halloween?
Is there any difference between celebrating americanized halloween and celebrating things like americanized Easter?

When I first became a Christian back in 1989 there were all sorts of new things I learned. I learned that Catholics weren't saved. That they worshipped idols. I learned that people speaking in tongues were not speaking by the Holy Spirit of God...they were faking it and pulling people into their religion. I learned that Satanism ran rampant through my town and that they singled out blonde blue eyed children for sacrifices. Now all of that didn't come just from the church I attended (a southern baptist church) but from other articles, pamphlets I picked up at rallies and camps etc.
Now that I'm older and a bit stronger in my faith I study these things. I was mistaken in a LOT of this stuff.

Yes I would! That comment was not directed at you personally. It just amazes me how some threads get soo off track and then keep going around and around and around and around.

"You'll be disappointed," he answered. "I don't think you want to see it." But I insisted, and he proceeded to show me floor after floor of beautiful gifts, all wrapped and ready to be sent.
"Gabriel, what are all of these?"
He said, I thought rather sadly, "We wrapped all these things, but people never called for them."
There are gifts and an abundance of blessings to be received from heaven -- but we need to claim them as our own! We receive not because we've asked not.
When we ask the Lord in humility and expectation for His goodness, He will answer! Then we'll be better equipped to do the great things He has in store for us. |

but here it goes:
Besides our Christians views and beliefs I find the whole day a pain in the ___. I work in school, do you have any idea what kids are like as the "big day" approaches. Not to mention the sugar high they are all on for weeks afterwards. The noise level in the building goes through the roof
It comes right before the big holidays ,Thanksgiving & Christmas, and it has gotten down right expensive and hectic. Since Nov, Dec and Jan are so busy I'd rather bow out in OCT.
When I was a kid we celebrated it. We always made our own costumes, they were great. Now I see people who spend big bucks on elaborate costumes for their kids and begin making them 5 months early.
Anyway, just my 2 cents worth, CHA-CHING!

Reps: 172 (power: 0) | | | Havoc- The very fact that you refer to yourself as a witch and then tell me that halloween is your most important day is reason enough to not celebrate it. Witchcraft is evil, since halloween is also your most important religious day, halloween is also evil. Thank you but I will spend that time with other Christians while witches are out trying to jumpstart their brooms. |

Are you sure your definition of witchcraft, the bibles definition of witchcraft and Havocs definition of witchcraft all line up? Witchcraft is evil but prejudice and bigotry are righteous and Godly.
Apparently you and I have a different definition of what constitutes evil. Thank you but I will spend that time with other Christians while witches are out trying to jumpstart their brooms.
That's ok. You guys tend to kill a good time with good people anyways. Not sure about the broom comment though. Surely you don't think Witches ride on brooms do you?
