Thank you. My son and his wife are also recovering addicts so they have many hurdles to overcome, but so far, they have been "clean" for one year!!

Thanks for the encouragement, although my son called tonight and his wife has not come home from dialysis, he is fearful she has taken off and is doing crack again. I hope not, she has done so well!

Oh sweetie, a big for you.
I will pray for your DIL, first for her to stay clean or if the worse to get clean right away again. Also for her dialysis and for another kidney to be available very soon.
Has she gone home yet or your son hear from her? Originally Posted by CCGirl I am asking for prayers for my son's wife and the mother of their 2 babies (they are all Christian). Thanks for the kind words, yes, she came home the next morning, her mum and I went over and watched the kids while she slept and my son went to work. It is her birthday today, I was over there this a.m. to take her to dialysis and take the kids to her mum's house.
She was out doing crack, and drinking alcohol. Apparently she ran out of her antidepresants, and forgot to pick up a perscription (this is what she says) and a few days went by and she felt worse and couldnt cope anymore.
Sadly, she is not eliglble for another transplant because as an addict, you are considered to have "abused" your transplant. Of course, she can buy one, but who knows? She is also an Australian citizen.

I will hope and pray that she keeps taking her meds. Addictions can be the hardest thing in life anyone can ever go through.
I pray somehow she will be able to get another kidney, she is so young and has your son and the children. |

I know......she is 25 today, and the kids are just turned 1 and 2 1/2. Her parents have alot of money, her mum was saying you can go overseas and get a kidney that way. I am not sure if it is legal, or ethical.

I have no idea.
I see why they say she abused the kidney she has now, but everyone deserves another transplant. No one can snap their fingers and say "okay today I am no longer an addict" and just live happily ever after. Yes ppl can have many many years and be clean or sober. But a lot don't, ppl slip.
I can see why they say, "she had her chance" but it is not that cut and dry.
I subscribed to your thread, any news please post it sweetie. |

I agree, but I suppose with so many people on waiting lists, they must have some rules.
Thanks for the kind words.
