And what was the outcome? You'd think we would have learned.

Yeah, and that was our problem. Like Inspired says, who are we to force our government on someone else?
We should have let them come over here and force their government on us. "Ein Volk, ein Reich, Ein Führer! Seig Heil, Seig Heil, Seig Heil!"

I hear people complain about americans trying to change things that they dont like. So what gives us the right to go over there and force them to our ways when all the money and energy being spent on them could go to helping people HERE. Spend billions of dollars blowing the place up, spend billions of dollars fixing it up. I wouldnt mind some of the money being spent over there being used to pay for oh say health care coverage for US, or to help get some of these homeless people off the streets. Let Iraq self-destruct for all I care, then we dont have to worry about warring them again. |

Saddam was an evil dictator but the country was stable (like the people had a choice he gassed them if they got out of line). We do need to come up with some sort of exit plan, and time estimate. I don't see an endstate at this point. Will we still be there in 50 years like Korea?
In other words I don't think we should leave right now, but we do need some sort of plan for when and how we do leave. For goodness sakes we are still in Bosnia. (that little unapproved by the UN war that a Democrate got us involved in) |
