Reps: 10,751 (power: 30) | | | Baha'i - filled with the Holy Spirit? I was reading about Baha'i today.
They believe that all religions are inspired by the same spiritual deity, but that history, politics, and doctrine have divided us.
They believe all humans are equal, deserving basic human rights.
Aside from the fact that their Messiah was a condemned Iranian who died only 153 years ago, I'd say these guys have a great philosophy.

Reps: 816 (power: 0) | | | Amazeing philosophy considering Bahahullah ( spelling? hes the founder) grew up in strict Islamic law in the 1800's expecially the equal rights for woman issue, In my town the Baha'i community always sponsers the events such as tolerance for gays, or any universal faith type events, they even invite leaders from other religions to give presentations ( yes even conservative Christians). when I went to Bahai meetings, most of the members were exislamic from a middle eastern background....since much of baha'i is influenced by islam, I got the impression that mainstream islam views baha'i the same as fundamental christians view univeralist churches....heresy. In Iran and Lebanon, and a few other countries under Islamic law, if you are Baha'i you will be executed. I read all the time of Baha'i members executed in Iran....you see Christianity isnt the only religion too claim persecution.

I think I have a personal philosophy close to this, although slightly different in that i am an athiest but the idea is roughly the same. An old friend of mine was Baha'i.

I think they are underestimating the power of an enemy to decieve. ''For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
Did not even Satan marvelously transform himself into an angel of light? ''

In what way?
For a religion that preaches tolerance, you lot are being pretty intolerant.

I have had the chance on several occasions to meet & work with Bahai officials at their world center in Haifa. I've visited there & at the Bahaullah's tomb in nearby Acre. There is much to admire in, and learn from, the Bahai faith.
KennySe, you condemn the Bahai faith; do you know anything about it?
See http://www.bahai.org/article-1-2-0-1.html .
Be well!

Not history's forces nor the times nor justice nor the lack of it nor causes nor religions nor ideas nor kinds of government nor any other thing! We are the killers; we breed war. We carry it, like syphilis, inside. Dead bodies rot in field and stream because the living ones are rotten. For the love of God, can't we love each other just a little? That's how peace begins. We have so much to love each other for. We have such possibilities, my children; we could change the world. (From The Lion in Winter) |

A religion that preaches tolerance? Christianity preaches Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your nieghbor as yourself.
Christianity preaches that the God of the Bible is the only God. Christianity preaches that there is only one way to the Father (God) and that is by the Son Jesus. Christianity preaches that God the Son died for the sins of all.
Your right, Christianity is a tolerant religion but it is not in tolerance with regard to other gods. God separated Christianity so that people could choose God. The all roads to God finds people worshipping different gods and God wants us to worship Him. We can't be worshipping Him if we are worshipping Allah or any other diety. The one path is not intolerance but a sure way to know that we as the created can know the Creator and not some fictional character such as the tooth fairy. |

Ignoring the religious details of this faith, what do you feel about their philosophy? |

I ahve always thought that God would need many religions for her chidren to come through...not all will think the same.
