Is anyone in Celebrate Recovery

My church is using Celebrate Recovery as a 12 step forum. We started it about 9 months ago and have seen it grow tremendously. CR uses the 12 steps forum like AA and the 8 principals of the beatitudes from the Bible.
I have been asked to be on the leadership team and will eventually lead a womens recovery of childhood sexual abuse group.
Does anyone here have CR experience? Anyone in leadership?

HI,

I am active with Celebrate Recovery. I'm not in leadership , but have been attending for over a year now ( I know not very long) but I LLLLOVE it!

I am a beleiver who struggles with addiction and after spending 28 days in a rehab center, I just couldn't do AA. NO offense to those who make it and flourish through AA but for ME I found it depressing and repetative.
At Celebrate I just feel more at home. You have worship time, a Speaker ( usually a deacon or Pastor who has struggled as well or others giving testeiony) then you go into groups based on your needs and it becomes like an AA forum. No cross talk, but there is a topic ( I know you know already just posting haha)
I just started this forum for Celebrate Recovery types

http celebrate informe com forum ( im too knew to post links yet)

still needs work ..

Hugs and Prayers

I'd love to communicate regularly with anyone who is doing celebrate Recovery. I've been involved about six weeks now at a local church and Friday night has become the highlight of my week. It would be nice to chat with someone who is involved in and appreciates the program. I am not interested in complaining as I wish to be affirmed and affirming.

this church I just started attending a month ago used to have a CR program long ago but for whatever reason, it stopped under the old pastor.

I have been talking to the new pastor about getting it going again and he is very open to it.

I just recently heard about CR; then I was talking to a guy from my AA group on the phone the other night and he told me theres a CR group at his church near my home. Im gonna go and check it out it sounds really great. I love AA but would also like a more Christ centered recovery group as well.

I attend AA reguarly, and I started attending CR as well (I found a meeting a couple months ago). It's great! It's at a Church of the Nazarene a few miles from my home. They have a dinner every week followed by some praise songs (contemporary Christian rock) played by some guys from the youth group at the church. Then we either have a testimony speaker or a study of one of the steps. Then we break into small groups for discussion.

I get a lot out of these meetings. It's very powerful as a PP said.

Peace,
Laura
