Are you sure?
Can the world simply glance at you and say "Oh, there's a Christian"?
No ,. . . .
The WORLD does not know you are a christian . . some few people might, but the WORLD does not know . . . And JW's feel the same way...
And Baptists feel the same way...
And Methodists feel the same way...
The point is that one denomination is not more holy in the eyes of our Lord than another. We are all the same in His sight because He sees our heart.
All believers are the same in HIS sight, that doesn't make them all a CITY set on a HILL that fits the description Jesus gave in scripture for the WORLD'S benefit.
The city set on a hill speaks of a VISIBLE ENTITY .. something easily identifiable . . .
Only the Catholic Church is that.

The Catholic Church and Rome does not fit this passage . . . .
The Catholic Church is Her own COUNTRY . . She is not part of Rome, and so Her seat of power cannot be Rome . . .
You need EIGHT hills now to make this work even superficially . . .
You only have SEVEN . . . and the Catholic Church is not on those seven ,. . .
You are mincing words....
Like I said, the Roman empire has morphed into the Holy Roman empire which morphed into the Roman Catholic Church but the seat is still Rome....Vatican City may call herself an independent state today but it is still the ROMAN Catholic Church from the Holy Roman Empire from the Roman empire. |

To be faithful to Jesus and keep His commandments, one doesn't even need to be Catholic.
I am a living testimony that no building can save. I was a good catholic, and I had no peace, no Jesus, no nothing. |

No . . . they may be able to see somethng different about you, but they can't identify that it is Chirst without first getting to know you . . .
Others from different religions can also set themselve apart that way . .. .
The JW that came to my door was a lovely, loving lady, full of joy, patience, goodness, faithfulness, self control, love and kindness .. .
Buddhists can exhibit the same characteristics . . .
And your point is?

So if there is someone in the world who doesn't know if you are a christian, then your church is wrong?
That seems to be your point.
The world knew I was Catholic, and that I did not know Jesus in any way. |

You have now entered into the logical fallacy of the circular argument. . .
You are using your conclusion as evidence . . .
that makes it logically invalid.

Or we should take out an ad in the paper announcing to the world we are THE church. |

There you go Jen. All whp disagree with the catholic church are invalid. We may as well give up and admit we are not christians. Or partly christians. or an invalid church.
No, that won't do, we know we are members of the only true church. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
