First, You can have all the sexy gucci items in the world, but it doesn't mean squat if you can't use them to their full extent. Most Soliders/Marines are bound by some rigorious ROE in Iraq. Iraq is an occupation with some relative low intensity, if this were an all out war, things would be different. However, the poltical landscpae dictates the battles, not the Generals.
Second, being tricked out in the latest "D-boy" outfit doesn't make you a tactical leader either. GPSs, UAVs and Thermals don't lead squads and high tech medicine will never top, fire supperiority.
The Insurgency in Iraq gets it's body count becuase U.S Forces show restraint. If we took off the gloves, it would be a different story, but thats not condusive to our mission. |
