Actually given the seeing last night it jiggled around quite a bit!
The planet up in the evening in the south-east is indeed Mars! Very bright and if you look carefully has a tinge of orange to it. Through the scope you can see its south polar cap (cool!) and you ought to be able to see markings as well but as I said the seeing was rubbish last night.

Reps: 1,320 (power: 12) | | | It used to be my dream to visit Mars. I spent two years in elementary school designing a craft for taking me there. I had a dream about that sail that was used in the movie Tron, except the beam it rode on was obsrtucted by the ship.
I actually thought up something that a few years later a man designed for putting satellites in space. (Not with my help or anything.)
I thought, "Well light travels at the speed of light, so why not have light push something?" A laser blasting against like a mirror or something that would eventually propel a ship to near light speed.
Its funny, but my best freind became my freind in elementary school when he heard what I thought. His mother told my mom that he had the same idea. Do kids just have this incredible drive to explore the universe? (I think most children want to be astronaughts when they grow up.)
That freind eventually moved away and he told me in an e-mail one day in middle school that a professor had tested it. It kinda made us anrgy. I think I was watching discovery channel one time when I saw an experiment with that professor shooting an object down a cable with a laser beam.
Just an interesting story. |

Jet was right. The scientist who did come up with Big Bang was a Christian. Try this site for one prominent Christian who says Big Bang is proof of the existence of God: www.reasons.org |

Edit: I do find it kinda funny how Kiwi came in here, called a priest stupid, then apparently ran off, probably thinking he had struck a blow against atheism.
