My vacation was good -- I went to Boston to visit a fella who wears a pi shirt.

If any of you didn't know the kitty I had as my avatar for about a year was Hattie, named not after Acadamy Award winning actress Hattie McDaniel, nor CBS news correspondant Hattie Kaufman, but Hatshepsut, the only female pharoah of Egypt. Discovery Channel just aired a fascinating documentary on the efforts by Egyptologists to track down her mummy. I went and saw the Hatshepsut exhibit at the Kimball art museum back in December and this was a nice bookend.
I still miss having two kitties instead of one.

About 3 months ago we lost Fred Astaire -- our 17 1/2 year old cat. He was special, and I will always remember him. He was black and white -- like he was always wearing a tux.
About 1 month ago, we got Butch and Sundance - two kittens from two different litters. They are amazing bundles of joy in our lives. They purr when you pick them up and snuggle in, and they play like the kittens they are. They already occupy a special place in our hearts.
But they will never replace Fred.
