How do young earth creationists explain the ice age?

It appears that the ice age is an undisputed historical event. So the young earth creationists would have to explain humans inhabiting Earth during the ice age. How do they do this?

Or do they avoid this by saying the ice age didn't happen? If so how do they explain this?

There was an ice age fairly soon after the global flood, as the earth regained a state of equilibrium. However, it was not nearly as long as conventional dating would imply.

I concur with this position. I might add that the "ice" has been diminishing ever since and the earth is in the process of returning to the pre-flood state. This could be associated with the global warming effects, but will continue with or without anything man does.

I have heard it explained, and all I can say is that due to the warm oceans after the flood that there was still an abnormal amount of precipitation that became cooler at the poles and formed the ice. When the oceans finally cooled down, everything leveled off, and its been a progressive melt since.

The humans were concentrated in one area that was free of the ice, and didn't start re-populating the earth in earnest until the time of Peleg at Babel.

Michael Oard has written an excellent book on this subject called Frozen in Time. AIG has been kind enough to allow people to read the entire book free online. Here is a link to it.

"THE ice age" "Undisputed FACT" "How did humans inhabit the earth?"

Here are the facts. God created life on earth about six thousand years ago. Then about 4500 years ago there was a universal flood that destroyed all of life on earth except what was on the Ark with Noah. Now where would you fit the ice age in that? There was no ice age lasting tens of thousands of years. It is a lie.
We are living in an ice age now if you want to look at the landscape. Ice covers the south pole, and the north pole, and it covers much of the high altitude mountainous regions, and almost all of Greenland. It is melting and has been ebbing sporadically for years. But now this warming has become a major political bus that lots of politicians are trying to ride to position. After a couple of weeks of freezing weather this spring, I am hoping that we will get a good dose of WARMING here in Indiana.

I see that you're new to the CF site. By your post, it would seem that you are trying to debate from a non-creationist viewpoint. If I'm wrong, maybe you could add more info to clarify what you're after.

The facts are what the Bible teaches. You do the math, as many people before us have done who have the ability to add 2 + 2 and get 4. Life on earth began 6000 years ago according to Scripture.

You want me to prove that the Bible is true. What? You mean to tell me that you are coming here to the CREATIONIST ONLY Forum and you don't believe that the Bible is true? That is where we BEGIN here as Christians. The Bible is true and it means what it says.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the God of the UNIVERSE and that He does not lie. What he says is true. We do not insult Him and treat Him with irreverence and ask Him to prove that what he is saying is true.

He was there. We were not. He tells us what happened and we worship Him and believe Him when He tells us of earthly things and we are also confident when He tells us of heavenly things.

You are the one coming in asserting that the ice age is an undisputed fact. We rather need your proof from the Bible that this "ICE AGE" is a fact.

Actually, it would not surprise me if persons of the TE and atheistic viewpoint have assumed NEWBIE identities without identifying their "ORIGINS POSITION" just to resume their practice of harassment. I will give these two fellows the benefit of the doubt at this point, and I for one will pretend that they are sincere questioners and refrain from taking the "REPORT" option at this point.
Moreover, I have checked all the previous posts by the newbie "Joeskis" and it does appear that he is a creationist with some sincere questions.

I would urge the one who submitted the original post to go to AiG and check out the stuff by Mike Oard. The place in the YEC model for the "Ice Ages," or the Ice Age is in the years following the Flood and up to the time of the dispersion after Babel. The is some odd discussion of Ice and Snow in Job (probably written before the time of Jacob in Egypt). Information about Ice Cores and the age of the Ice layers is also available in the AiG articles. The thousands of Mammoths preserved in the permafrost of the far north are probably casualties of the post-flood ice age.

Since he's a newbie, it was probably an honest oversight.
