We must first recognize that our healing has already been bought and paid for by the Lord Jesus Christ. It is part of the salvation package that we receive when we are born-again.
Let's take a look at Isaiah 53:4-5
4 Surely He has borneour griefs (lit. Sicknesses) And carried our sorrows; (lit. Pains) Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Healed = Rapha (Hebrew) See Ex. 15:26 (physical healer, healing, physician)
Borne = Nasa (Hebrew)
To lift up and remove away from.
Now take a look at the end of verse 12:
12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. Same word as Verse 4 "NASA" To lift up and remove away from.
In this wonderful chapter foretelling the Redemptive work of Jesus Christ, we clearly see that the same action "NASA" that removed sin (verse 12) also removed sickness and disease. As you can see, Jesus not only paid the price for the removal or forgiveness of sin, but for the healing of our bodies; mental and physical.
Matthew confirms our physical healing in Matthew 8:16-17 as he makes reference to Isaiah 53:4
16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed allwho were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses."
Notice He healed "all" who came, He turned none away!
The early church clearly understood what Jesus came to do for us on the cross, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy. Peter writes regarding this fact as past tense saying: "By whose stripes you were healed." 1 Peter 2:24. Jesus Christ went to the cross spirit, soul and body to pay for our healing, spirit, soul and body!
When I was sick, I remember I kept asking the Lord, "When are you going to heal me!" One day I blurted out that statement and like a shot the Lord replied, "When are you going to believe I already did!" Without thinking about it, I was looking for a future work of Grace and what I needed to do was take hold of what was already provided, which was the finished work of Grace. We must look back to get ahead! Faith takes hold of what has already been revealed and acts upon it. Let's quit looking for a "future" work of healing and take hold of what has already been given.
Romans 10:6-8 reveals this important fact.
6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
He already came down!
He's already been raised up!
the scripture is telling us here to stop looking for another work of Grace. Jesus already paid the price and the solution is right there with you now!!! Believe it in heart, and speak it out with your mouth. To say words like, "I believe the Lord is going to heal me someday." Is, according to this scripture, the same as saying, "I need the Lord to come down and go to the cross, be crucified again and be raised up for my present ailment." We would not consciously say such a thing, but that is what we are doing when we neglect the finished work of Calvary and look to a future work. The work of the cross was good enough, as the Lord said to Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My Grace is sufficient for you!" In essence the Lord was saying, "All that I have and all that I am has already been given to you - stand on it Paul, put the Word to work!!!"
Continuing in Romans, Paul tells us that faith for healing must be active in 2 places, in our mouth and in our heart.
Romans 10:9-13
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession; is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
Heart and Mouth believingand speaking the same thing The Word!
The word "Saved" and "Salvation," in the above block of scripture, is the word "sozo" in the Greek language and has the meaning of: to save, i.e. deliver or protect, to heal, preserve, be (make) whole. Jesus used this very word every time He healed someone saying: "Your faith has made you whole." Or "be made whole." Whenever we read this word in the Bible we need to read it as saved/healed! It has the combined meaning just as Isaiah spoke of it in chapter 53. You can not separate healing out of Redemption. If you are saved, then you have the right to health.

Your face can feed people hungry for love in their life or at that very moment. "There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread." - Mother Teresa ♥
Let's take a look at some further proof that health and healing belong to us as a free gift of grace through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary.
Galatians 3:13-14 is so very important!
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Redeemed = Exagarazo (Greek)
To buy up, to rescue from loss.
The word "redeemed" has the thought here of being "brought out," or purchased out from underneath the weight of the oppression of the curse of the law. This is wonderful news for us because we see here the will of God in verse 14; "that we, being free from the curse would enjoy the blessings which is the promise of the Spirit of God through faith!"
Do you know what the curse of the law is? Or where it's found in the Bible? You can not appreciate the full impact of this truth until you do. It is found in Deuteronomy chapter 28. The first 14 verses describe the blessings that will come upon a believer's life through obedience to the Lord. Verses 15 through 68 describe the curse, the problems and hardships that one can expect who, through disobedience, walks outside of the covenant relationship with the Lord. Even though this section of scripture is terrible indeed, you should read it and rejoice that you've been redeemed from it - it is a real reason to celebrate and praise the Lord! But there is one section here that is of particular importance to us regarding health.
Look at Deuteronomy 28:58-61
58 "If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, 59 then the LORD will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues --great and prolonged plagues-- and serious and prolonged sicknesses. 60 Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61Also every sickness and every plague, which is notwritten in this book of the law,
will the LORD bring upon you until you are destroyed.
All inclusive of everysickness and disease!
Now let's tie it all together. Since we know that the curse includes all sickness and all disease that's in the world, we can clearly see that according to Galatians 3:13, we have been bought out from underneath the curse of the law. Therefore, according to the Scripture, sickness and disease have no legal right to live in us. It is illegal, for we have been redeemed!!! Praise the Lord! Get happy about the blessings and get mad at the devil for trying to pull one over on you, trying to get you to accept what doesn't belong to you. He's a liar! Remember, faith can only act where the will of God is known. You can't claim a benefit that you don't know anything about. But now you know!
We have an active role to play in appropriating our blessings. There is an enemy out there working against us. We must know, that because we have become born-again, we have been given authority over the devil and his works.
In Luke 10:19 there is a great truth describing our right:
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy,
and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Now that's power!!!
And it's your God given right.
You can do it! Take authority over the devil by commanding him to get out of your life and out of your affairs. Command sickness and disease to go! Rebuke it in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Set your will against it, and refuse to accept it - it doesn't belong to you. You are a child of God!!!
Your words are powerful and your faith is stronger than you think!
Look what Jesus said in Mark 11:22-23
22 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.
Jesus said you can
have whatever you say!
A mountain is an obstacle in life that is blocking your blessing! Notice, Jesus didn't say to talk to God about your mountain - He said YOU do something about it - use the faith He has given you and command it to be removed according to the Word of God. You do it!!! Pick up the Sword of the Spirit and begin to slash your way to victory, proclaiming the Word of God regarding your healing. Often, when we are sick or diseased, we "hear" our sickness or symptoms speak negativity or doubt to our minds. Telling us we are not ever going to get well, or "how will you ever get about your business, you're in such bad shape." Or quite possibly convincing us to entertain thoughts of death, or thoughts of total defeat because of the pain.
Do not listen to that, it will defeat you!
Instead, get back to the Word.
Take a look at Isaiah 54:17 for a word from the Lord regarding this.
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.
You take the authorityover those negative thoughts with the Word!
Sickness is judging you falsely, rise up in faith and condemn those lying negative thoughts with the truth of the Word of God. Refuse to accept it!Replace those thoughts by meditating on the promises of health and healing from the Word. Saturate your mind with the truth - your inheritance, your birthright - The Word Of God! Begin to see yourself as the Word says - Healed, whole and well! We do not deny that sickness or disease is present - however, we are denying it the right to stay in our bodies, by receiving the truth of what was purchased for us at Calvary - our blessing! When you finally come to the place that you are ready to receive your healing by faith, write down the date and settle it before the Lord. From this day forward you will no longer ask the Lord for healing, instead you will now thank Him and praise Him for it. This is where the battle begins as the enemy will attempt to talk you out of it in the days to come, trying to convince you it didn't work or it's not for you - you must stand strong in faith and must not give in. When the enemy says you are not going to get healed, you can now state with complete confidence, "On this date devil, I've already received my healing by faith - you're just too late!"

In Mark 4, as Jesus was explaining the parable of the sower to His disciples, He explained in verse 15 that when the Word is sown the devil comes immediately to steal the word.
Mark 4:15 reads:
15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the
word that was sown in their hearts.
Does not want the
Word to take root and bear fruit.
We know that in the first part of John 10:10, Jesus said that the devil (the thief) comes to steal and to kill and to destroy. This is his goal and focus. Notice that he is very wise in his tactics against us. He knows that if we continue to meditate or focus on the Word of God that it will bring forth fruit, through faith, just as it states in Romans 10:17 when it says that faith comes through hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
He knows this is a certain truth, so he brings in his word of doubt, confusion and uncertainty. He attempts to get your focus on to your circumstances instead of the promises of the Word. We need to use his tactics against him, and walk in at least the same amount of wisdom he uses against us. When we hear that doubt, or begin to focus in on our problem, we need to immediately steal that lying thought and not allow it to take root and replace it immediately with the truth of the Word of God. Use those thoughts of doubt and wondering as a "cue" to speak the Word concerning the promises of health. By doing that, you will steal or stop the devil's word from taking root. Don't hesitate - do it immediately and as often as you need to through out the day. It's powerful and it works! After all, the enemy uses it on us with great results. It's time for us to rise up and turn the tide! Boldly proclaim that you are a recipient of God's grace and of the promise of health. Rebuke that lying devil and rebuke those circumstances and claim your promise of health. Decree out loud "I am healed because the Word says so!" "I believe it and it's mine now!" Let's take a look at how the Lord sees us, our position, or right standing, in Christ. Many in the Body of Christ see themselves as "weak worms of the dust." And, because of that mentality, they are an easy target for the enemy. Once you get a hold of where you stand in Christ, your life will take on a whole new brightness of hope. You won't have to try and get your faith up, faith will just be!
Let's start in Ephesians 2:4-6
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Through Grace we're raised up and seated together with Jesus Christ
Did you see that? When we were born-again we were raised up and made to sit together with Jesus. The Father sees us in Christ, and we have been given the position, or right of "sonship."
As it states in Romans 8:17: "we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ." That means all that He has is given to us! Now look at the end of the preceding chapter in Ephesians:
Ephesians 1:19-23
19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
The seat of Authority!
If it's under His feet,then
it's under our feet, because weare The Body of Christ!
This starts out talking of the atonement, the resurrection, or what we call the New Birth. But remember in Ephesians 2:6 it said we are raised up and seated with Jesus. I like to call this the "Seat of Authority" because of what it says next. He is far above all principality and power and might and dominion (everything and every power the devil has) and also far above every name that can be named! Cancer is a name, pain is a name, whatever your condition is, it's got a name! And we've been raised with Jesus Christ above it all! Do you see it? Because we are in Christ, that's the authority we have now, here on the Earth, right where we are! Now look at verse 22, He put all things under His feet. Now let me ask you a very simple question: Where are the feet? They are on the very lowest part of the Body of course. The rest of this chapter tells us that the Body is the Church - that's us! We are the Body of Christ and if they are under His feet then they are all under our feet. Praise the Lord! We have been given a very great inheritance indeed! Begin to exercise your authority in Christ by boldly proclaiming what rightly belongs to you by faith. Don't allow the devil to steal from you any longer. Get fed up and put your foot down on the situation and receive by faith the blessings that are yours!
Look at this wonderful section of Scripture in 1 John 5:14-15
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Surely this includes healing! The Word of God is the Will of God
God's Word is His will. Take it, it's yours!!!

Well done, that just about sums up divine healing and the scriptural basis for it. One of the things I've noticed over the years is, those who believe physical healing is part of the atonement according to Isaiah 53:4-5 etc, see far more success in terms of people being healed than those who don't believe physical healing is part of the atonment.
Personally I'm of the view that Jesus meant what He said when he taught us to pray “... your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...” There's no sickness in heaven.
Blessings, Anthony
