One of their songs was based on the Valens song, "Ooh My Head." Jimmy Page knew that using just the regular legal channels to get permission to record the song would not benefit the Valens family, because he had not gotten a very good record deal while he was alive. So they gave Ritchie's mother songwriting credit so that royalties would be paid directly to her.
Of course, Mrs. Valens didn't understand exactly what Led Zeppelin had done and she tried to sue them.

You forgot the one and only Bill Haley, the true father of Rock 'n' Roll. He recorded songs with a Rock 'n' Roll rhythm before any of the artists you mentioned.
You also forgot Little Richard, the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis, all of whose importance in building the foundation of Rock music cannot be underestimated.
