Tell me why should polar bear extinct if there were no ice cap. When it becomes hungry, it will go ANYWHERE and eat EVERYTHING.

Experiment: put one (or two) polar bear in the Siberia jungle (or the arctic tundra), I believe it will simple become a normal bear.

Well Juv, I pointed out to you earlier that i know more than you do, and i can think, talk, or write circles around you; elipses and oblate cycloids, if necessary. Your post here is a very thin concession to the fact that you are in over your head talking about biology and paleontology, but at least you see it. A man should, they say, know his limitations. You simply dont know what you are talking about in this field.

The "problems" that you listed earlier, things about the fish / amphibian transition were problems of your invention with no basis in fact. I listed your errors for you. Mostly simple, obvious, simple things off the top of my head, like that the fish involved were fresh water, not salt as you thought.

You dont have enough information to attempt any sort of challenge to the ToE.

Perhaps youd like to change that. With some study, you could answer your own arguments and not have to put them on display. The more you study, the more your arguments or imagined problems will evaporate.

At some point a person would have to realize that there ARE NO known counter arguments, and there is no data whatever to support such arguments. As AV would say, "keep looking"! However long it takes to see you are not going to find anything.

If the polar bears had to move south into grizzly bear country they probably could not compete, but who knows. They wont have the foraging skills, no more than a griz knows how to stalk seals.

As for your experiment, lets get a breeding population in a place where they can survive, preferably an island group. Given the environmental pressures and food / habitat opportunities necessary, over time, maybe thousands of years, we might see a small dark vegetarian bear that climbs trees. Another that had taken up seafood full time and only came ashore to rest now and then.

That is kind of what evolution is about , isnt it?

Indeed -- Polar bears are mean hombres, but nothing compared to a Grizzly in it's own environment.

"Home field advantage" carries a lot of weight in evolution.

hespera sez

Yes, kind of like knowing something about the topic is a big help, when discusssing evolution. Good way to avoid those embarrassing gaffes that show you got your ideas from imagination or comic books.
