Yes, this shows an evolutionary ancestry of whales to land quadrupeds by the vestigial features both in the adult and the embryo. Notice it also shows the GAIN of information. The information gain is to resorb the hind limb bud. IOW, the informatin originally was to form the bud. That information is still there. Only now there is additioanl information to take that bud away.
Keep this example in mind when you run up against the "evolution is only a loss of information and never a gain" argument. Moderator (NYJ) Comment: Edited out personal site link from quote of Mr. Babinski. Rest of post left unaltered.

I happen to be the webmaster of his article that is in discussion, and I would have to say, that in the case of the URL he's given, it is not "his article", but rather a collection of historical references, which has been provided for the interest of public education. I have spent literally hundreds of dollars, to get the information on the web. Ed Babinski is profiting nothing, and nor have I, nor will I. The information we're making available is no where on the web. For this cause, it is in perfectly good taste to promote his own URL. It is for science & education about the evolution/creation controversy.
Besides the historical information he's collected, we've also had contribution of information from WGBH-Boston/PBS, we also have just received contribution of materials from the Milwaukee Public Museum, and have heard from Hans Thewissen in regards to some of the information... I hope that excerpts of the Professor will soon be featured in the article. It is not exactly "his article", but rather, a compilation of references and pictures, from reliable (and/or historical scientific journal) sources.
I speak for the Cetacean/Whale Evolution article located at: http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/babins...evolution.html
or, http://www.skeptical-christian.net/b...evolution.html
I am one who fervently believes in God, and fervently believes in evolution, and I want answers from answers in Genesis and other Creationists as for their denial of such astounding *evidence* for evolution. How they can simply deny the natural phenomena?! amazes me.
Here's the response from Jonathan Sarfati, Ph.D: http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/babins...-response.html
it was very unprofessional and exceedingly rude, for a man who would call himself Christians and a Ph.D? The unprofessional, *personal angst* response is more amazing to me, than their denial of evolution.

Sharon, you either didn't read the rest of my post or misunderstood it. Please read it again. I am citing the hindlimbs in whales as an argument AGAINST a common creationist argument and FOR evolution. Please do not let your preceived slight at Babinski citing his own website blind you to what was really said in the rest of the post. |

1. Mr. Babinski said "My website" (before I deleted the comment).
2. The post is almost a total violation of Christian Forum's Rule #3. That being "No Spam" which includes links to websites in which a person holds a personal interest, which is clearly the case here.
3. Don't come here and berate our members, especially with your first post. I won't stand for it, I won't tolerate it.
Thank you, and have a good day.

I understood, and by no means did I mean to offend you.
I'm quite well aware that it would be in bad taste to use a forum to promote one's own website like that.
The article he gave (which was accompanied by 2 other URLs of significance that are not his), this article on Whale/Cetacean Evolution, is actually one that I have put a lot of time, and interest in. I am very intrigued with Whale Evolution and the controversy surrounding it. I was stating my case, that I feel that URL is far from "his URL".. it's more mine, in many ways. I've spent hours on that article, taken alot of time contacting people, trying to track down information for it. Stuff that's no where on the web. For the sake of the discussion, and not personal profit. (Also Ed Babinski has dedicated a lot of time and energy into tracking down information for it... the majority of the stuff was not on the web. Some has been, but he's digging it out from remote places, e.g., the URLs he gave with *his* article, those are from scientific journals. It's a very serious discussion.)
By no means did I mean to offend you personally.
A whole controversy is wrapped up inside that article. A lot of my deep personal interests.
Thank you though for your kind comments. We're both reasonable people I'm sure. *smile*. |

I was unable to locate Sarfati's response via your link: http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/babins...-response.html
Any help would be appreciated.
As far as his rude behavior, I and others encountered it numerous times on the Theologyweb.com forum (biology) http://www.theologyweb.com/forum/for...php?forumid=12
where he posts under the name of Socrates. Very seldom does he ever make reply that does not have an uncalled for jibe, dig, smear, or other rude remark in it. And, of course, he is not at all above using whatever devious misuse of logic that he can to make his point. I stopped exchanging posts with him after I realized he really does not care about the truth, and will subvert it whenever it suits his purpose. Beware of this so-called "scientist." Moderator (NYJ) Comment: Mix-up in communication on my part. Please accept my apologies.

I'm a bit familiar with theology web.
Perhaps the error I made was not including the http:// in the address.
I just brought up the URL successfully, and copied. http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/babins...-response.html
I hope that works. Actually some of Jonathan Sarfati's nasty little smilies he sent in his 3 emails to me, were coming from the theology web website (drawing off their bandwidth). It seems that Answers In Genesis would be far more concerned with their employees, both publicly and private. He is a very rude man. |

I don't know, he seems to fit right in with their wretched disregard for honesty and truth.
And thanks for the address. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
