| I think your heart is in the right place, ControlFreak, but we have to be very cautious when confronting demons directly. We must always proceed only as led by the Spirit and say only what He tells us to say. Even Jesus didn't speak His own words to the devil, but He merely said, "It is written ..." and spoke the word of God. I think it's great to remind the devil and all his demons of their position in your life (subject to your authority, through Jesus), speaking the Word out loud. They especially HATE praise and will flee from it. Using your example of the Cthulu myths (I was a huge fan of Lovecraft myself at one time), when the urge hits you, stop it immediately by interrupting the thought that you are having about it. Don't meditate on it. Take that thought captive (2 Cor. 10:5) with appropriate scripture like 1 Cor. 10:13 and say things like: "Devil! It is written that no temptation has seized me except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. But when I am tempted, he will also provide a way out so that I can stand up under it. So right now, the Lord is providing me with a way out so I can stand up under this temptation!" -- and -- "Devil! The Word says in James 4:7 that if I submit myself to God, I can resist the devil and he will flee, so right now, in the Name of Jesus, I remind you that I am submitted to God and I RESIST you and you must flee!" I'm sure as you seek the Lord on this, He will point out other scripture that you can use as a weapon (sword) against demons. I will pray for you on this.
