The differences and similarities between the four gospels~

To all bible scholars out here in the section of theology, can you briefly tell me a list of similarities between the four gospels of the bible and also point out to me some useful sites which will give me useful references to see the similarities and differences of the four gospels?

The information will be used to help me in my essay in a current module I take in my university!

The Books of Matthew (Levi) and the Book of John (the Apostle that Jesus loved) are the only two gospels written by members of Jesus 12 disciples. The book of Luke was written in accordance with the book of Acts as a testimony and attempt to exonerate Paul (Saul) and have him released from the Roman government. The Book of Mark was written by John – Mark, a disciple of Peter, who was instructed by Peter on the life account of Jesus.

Some, including myself, parallel this verse from Revelation chapter 4: 7 (in context, 7-11) as a symbolic picture of the 4 gospels.

The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle.

The Lion; Matthew, Christ as King, His strength, and authority.
The Calf; Mark, Christ servant, humble.
The Man; Luke, Christ’s humanity.
The Eagle; John, Christ God over all creation.

I don’t focus on contradictions, if there were any, I focus on the message, and I have not found contradictions when I had studied the bible in its entirety. I do find contradictions when I study verse to verse, from one book against another, that is why the whole bible must be studied and not just picked & choose verses.

I am doing this from an academic perspective, since it is an essay to be handed out to a secular lecturer, since I am studying in a secular university.

So, I will appreciate some more secular kind of similarities/differences.

So I can pick and choose.

And doesn't sound so preachy in my essay towards my professor.

Will appreciate help from someone who is a bible scholar, or studying indepth bible study.

Thanks.

And thanks to those who had helped me a bit.

What I mean is what things appear in Mark that doesn't appear in John? Is there sylistic differences in the way in which the gospels is written.

How is Mark's portrayal as Jesus different from Mathew? What is the intention for this difference?

Question on authorship? Which book's authorship is more challenged than the others?

Thanks. That is what I am looking for.

No, of course I do not need anyone to do my homework for me. I just want some references for my study, my essay and also to give me a different perspective from myself.

Thanks for your help.
